How do I upload miniDV tapes to PC running windows 7. What's the best way to save the tapes for editing

Use the IEEE1394 Firewire interface on your PC if you have one. If your PC does not have a IEEE1394 port then you may be able to add one via an internal add-on card or a PCMCIA card if it is a laptop. With Windows 7, you can use Windows Moviemaker to capture the video. Don't bother with USB capture as this will be low quality and too slow. Moviemaker is not great for editing so you should investigate alternatives.
Captured video will take about 4GB of hard disk space for 20 minutes of video. If you are using a FAT32 file system then this is the maximum file size limit. You should therefore use NTFS to capture large video files.
