Question about KitchenAid KESC307 Electric Kitchen Range

Open Question

Control panel Our range, Kitchenaid KESC307HWW8 has an intermittent control panel display. It will function for awhile, then go completely dark but all functions still work. It seems to decide on its own when the digital display, clock, etc will work. What do you suggest

Control panel display goes out but all controls still function. If you press hard on the panel, the display will light up but will not stay. Appears to be a short.

The plug on your range may not be completely inserted into the outlet.
Clear all functions and see if the clock unfreezes
After all this, if the clock digits light up, and you still can't use any clock functions, it may be time for a new control panel.

any high tech range or any appliance for that matter that is high tech has a greater risk of repairs, the smart solution is to purchase an extended warranty on the appliance so if it does need to be repaired it will not cost you any additional expense
btw kitchenaid makes a fine range

  1. Disconnect power from unit.
  2. Check wires and connectors from control to latch switch, then from latch switch to control. If no damage to wires and all connectors okay, proceed to step C.
  3. Repeat steps A and B for door switch.
3. Measure door switch (door open = switch open small low voltage terminals). Replace switch if defective.
4. Measure latch switch (unlatch = switch open, CAUTION - oven light contacts are closed). Replace switch if defective.
5. If corrections are made in any step, reconnect power to control. Press and hold any key for 1 minute to clear R failure code from memory. F2 will appear. Press CANCEL and observe for 1 minute to ensure operation is correct.
6. If failure remains, disconnect power and replace control.

Feature not available

I had the same problem with a new kitchenaid range which they have agreed to replace after 1 month. Oven shut off a couple times while baking and feature not available displayed when trying to turn on oven again. I tried starting clean cycle and waiting a couple minutes for element to heat then cancelled clean cycle. Oven worked fine after this but this shouldnt be a solution, obviously something not wired right.

My display on my 2003 KitchenAid model KESC307HBS8 range was slowly diming until I could not see the display anymore. I ordered a new control panel 9782419CB and new Main Control Board 9782455 from Sears...

You have not said what problems you are having but want to know if you have wired up the unit correctly. Is that correct?
You are only saying that the configuration is wrong but not that the unit does not work....if the unit works...be happy.
For examp you say the the # 9 key turns on the oven light....are you saying it should be another key?

You may have to restate your problem. Make sure the new board is the one that substitute for your old one. If it is not, they will usually provide you with the package insert to explain the changes or differences.

Kitchenaid oven troubleshooting

it sounds like the heat escaping from the door damaged the electronic control board part number 8186393 and sears has it for 200 dollars.the way the door was left open was directing the heat right at the computer board and you sholud never use the stove for heating the room or things like this happen

Door Locked on and can't remove after water spill

At this point it is very likely the control panel will need to be replaced. If you had disconnected the power and let it dry completely before trying to use it it may have been ok except for the cosmetic issues. You might still try unplugging it for a half hour or shut down the circuit breaker for that amount of time. I am thinking it won't help but it is worth a try. I don't know what to tell you about the cobweb looking damage.

Dual fuel kitchenaid; burners work, oven does not

I had a similar problem. There's a thermostat before the control panel. You need to remove the knobs and the front panel to get to it. You'll also need to remove a couple of trim pieces to keep from bending the panel. The part number is Whirlpool W10017820, sells for about $40.
