Question about Avaya 5400 Series 5410 Phone

1 Answer

This issue just started this week with our Avaya 5420 phone system. When anyone in the office goes to make an outbound call, we dial the number, then receive a long silent pause and them sharp beeping sounds in a row and the display log reads 'Waiting on a Line'. After a few seconds the phone call is connected. What's going on?? Never done this before now!

You have a dead line somewhere. When you dial 9 it looks in a group of trunks for a call to go out on. Test the dial tone of all the lines. If that isnt it. There might be a problem in the ARS routing.

Is it possible to get caller ID for an incoming call if I have that number saved as a speed dial? If so, how do I get that. My phone is the Avaya IP Office 5410. Thanks

If the number matches the CID number, you should get the name as well. But here is the hard part.
IF your system requires you to dial an access code (say 9 to get an outside line) you may have that speed dial number saved as:
913125551212

If so, the incoming caller ID would have to match exactly, meaning CID would need to show 913125551212 in order for this to work.

BUT, caller id probably only shows 13125551212, and as such, wont work.

I have an Avaya 8403 Definity. I need to know how to forward my calls to another phone in our clinic.

http://support.avaya.com/css/P8/documents/100011072 Above is the support from Avaya's site. To transfer a call, press the Transfer button and dial the extension of the other phone in the office. The instructions for this can be found on page 23-24 of the manual linked above.

I got error message on 2 Avaya 5610SW IP phone: one is showing: incompatible Disc and another shows:Call Barred Disc. I have no clue to issue. is there anyone can help me out?

Incompatible means that what you dialed is not recognized by the system.

Call barred means your phons is restricted from dialing whatever you are trying to dial (900 numbers etc)

When dialing a 4 digit extension from the call log, a 9 is placed in front of the extension and it won't work because we don't need the 9 to dial internal extensions but do need it for dialing numbers...

That can be done in your pbx go to outbound routes and select the specific trunk there you can see in "dial patterns" 9|xxxx some thing like this there you can delete the 9 i hope it solves the problem

I would like to forward all calls to my cell phone

Which system do you have? IP Office?

If so, at your phone, you need to set the number to forward to:

Press: *07*9xxxxxxxxxxx#
(where 9xxxxxxxxxxx, is the dial "9" access code to dial outand the number how you would dial it, followed by pound)

so for 555-111-2222...

*07*915551112222#

Once that is done, you need to turn forwarding on:
*01

To turn forwarding off:
*02

Upon entering the codes, you will get a double "blip" tone to confirm the acceptance of the code.

Voice Mailbox

Then confusion sets in. Are you trying to enter the 2 digit extension number from the Auto Attendant, and getting "invalid entry"???

Or are you entering the extension number, but getting "Invalid Entry", when entering the password???

If it is the password and happening on all the mailboxes, then the hard drive is going or gone.

If it is the Auto Attendant, htne the selector codes are messed up.

Unobtainable Disc when dialing a number

The phone is not registered with the IP Office. Double check the IP settings of the phone. Callsv is the IPO IP address
Fileserv is the fileserver, usually the vmail pro server.
