The tensioner is located just under the alternator. It has a nut sticking out for you to put a wrench or socket on. Be sure to pull down to install the new belt.

The timing belt would have to be removed, so you would need a repair book or shop manual with the procedures.

When i put it in gear it makes a grinding sound 1995 plymouth voyager

chances are your transmission has to be replaced, but first make sure that there is nothing hitting your fan belts sometimes when your engine mounts are bad the engine moves beyond its place and hits things close to the belts. hope this helps you.

My 1995 Plymouth Voyager loses power, surges and backfires.

My first instinct tells me timing chain or belt, but it could be a vacuum line loose, cracked or disconnected. Using a stethoscope, or a length of gasline hose held to your ear, and with the engine running, listen for a hissing sound. Be sure and wiggle all the hoses you can. You might make one hiss. If you don't find anything, get a timing light, and check your timing marks. They should stay in basically one spot. If it's jumping around a lot, you need a new timing chain or belt. Good luck.
