I am looking for a switch for a Hoover floor polisher model 0211. This model is about 50 years old.
Hoover Floor Polisher #0211
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure.
You can try your local vacuum dealer in your area in the yellow pages or you can try the Hoover fact serv but there is one other place the has been open since 1949 that may have the switch for you, either new or used. The companies and factory listings are listed below:

Tivoli radio sticky case

I have the yellow songbook and it was so sticky and dirty after only a couple of years. I only use it inside, so I removed the sticky coating with nail polish remover and a ton of cotton balls. It worked really well on the yellow one - the finish is a little dull so it matches how it looked when it was new. And it's so clean now!

Hiya ... and wow....you must have a museum piece... I would contact Hoover! ..lol... I take it we are talking an automatic and not a twin tub ?, and obviously you have checked the fuse and power source...

Seriously your problem could be a number of simple issues, did you notice any burning smell?... If it Is the... motor just making a humming noise..with a burning smell.. it may require motor replacing.. just basically worn out.......
Or it may just need the brushes in the motor replacing.... which if it does.. I would suggest a recon motor at the least to replace with it.. as it would be highly likely you would be repalcing that very shortly anyways!

Is the drum turning by hand noisily..... if not .. could just be belt that has snapped.... or if it is noisy then that could indicate the bearings have collapsed. which is least likeliest of all ...

I am astounded by its age and the fact its an Hoover... I Would obviously say it owes you nothing in terms of service.. and if you want to pay for repair then do so .. but I personally would look for a new washer and retire your old one ..

Regards Faggly
