Hi!, The freezer of my refrigerator Model (ASD2624HEW) stopped working. It kept making a clicking followed by a humming noise. I replaced the relay overload with the start capacitor unit, but nothing changed the clicking noise is gone but i hear a short humming noise instead. I placed a thermometer in the freezer and it went down to 57 degrees. Can you please help? Thank you.

It is running . give it a few more hours - you are looking for a freezer temp of around zero degrees. Congrats - you fixed it!

SOURCE: Profile refrigerator section not cooling

We are not sure what precipitated the temperature swing up; however, within about an hour of emptying quite a lot of foodstuffs from top and bottom sections of the unit, I felt the cold air start to flow out of the rear vent. Within two hours, the upper section had dropped to about 50 degrees and by the next morning to 36. The freezer seemed to recoved on its own too, having risen to almost 8 degrees and then recovering to 0. Just patience and a smaller food payload?

SOURCE: Kenmore fridge and freezer not cooling

Check to see if there is any ice built up on the back wall of the freezer. If so thaw the ice and take the back wall out of the freezer. next check to see if the fan is running in the freezer (evaporator fan) This fan is what circulates the air from the freezer to the fridge. If it does run then you have a defrost problem (if ice is on the coils and back wall). Then replace defrost timer, heater, and thermostat.

How to check parts
http://www.acmehowto.com/howto/appliance/refrigerator/refrigerator.php
The fridge gets its cold air from the freezer through a vent(damper) between the freezer and fridge. The fan in the freezer blows air through it. There is a flap you adjust with the fridge temp. control. Make sure it's opening and closing when you adjust the fridge temp .

OR.
If the evaporator coils behind the back panel of the freezer are icing up because of auto defrost failure that will stop the circulation of cold air and eventually affect the freezer too.

check defrost timer, defrost heater, defrost thermostat. In most newer models the timer has been replaced by an electronic control board. If the heater and thermostat are ok it’ll be the control.

You can turn the defrost timer till it clicks and everything shuts down. The heater should now come on. If it does, replace the timer. If it doesn't, check the heater and defrost thermostat. Turn the timer again till everything starts back up to end the defrost cycle.

How do a fix a refrigerator which makes a clicking noise when light in freezer is off? If I open the freezer door it stops. If the door is open and I depress the light switch, it starts the noise aga

That's a weird one. It sounds like the switch operates a relay that cuts off power, and the relay is "chattering." If so, the only way to stop it is to replace the relay. Call a technician if you're not comfortable getting into the inner workings of your freezer yourself.

My kitchen aid refrigerator model kssc42qms02 making humming noises and the the temp lights are flashing

Assuming that both freezer and refrigerator temperatures have risen and the humming sound that you heard was followed by a sudden click more than likely the start device on the compressor has gone bad. This is a common problem with all Whirlpool refrigerators (KitchenAid is Whirlpools top of the line product and suffers the same problem).

The overload/relay , which is pluged onto the side of the compressor , is bad . The manufacturer part number is 12002794 . It is easily replaceable , with only 3 wires attached to it .

Amana ABC2037DEB after 4 years, now freezer click and hum melting

that click followed by a hum can only be one thing
pull the unit out and feel the compressor, if its really hot you have a relay and overload issue, and it struggles to start.
with any luck, it is the external relay and overload found mounted to the comresssor should be a lil white block
if not it will be two differant parts
a lil white one and a brown one
let these cool a bit and check both for continutity
ive included a link for the parts
they are 10 and 11 on the schematic

Freezer makes a humming noise and is not freezing

. Cut everything off for a few minutes then turn it back on and listen for a click from the compressor relay as the compressor tries to start.
Is the compressor motor running. If no check starter/overload relay.
Check to see if the condenser fan at the back underneath near the compressor is running. If no check fan.

Are the condenser coils near there warm or room temp. should be warm
