Question about Gateway T-6330U Notebook

1 Answer

I have a Gateway T-6330u notebook. I have had problems with the battery cord before where it plugs into the computer. A piece broke off from the battery cord and was stuck in the computer. I talked with Gateway and got them to send me another one under warranty. Now a year later, I noticed the same problem, but this time the piece didn't break off it was just loose, so I was just careful not to lose the piece. However, recently the battery cord quit charging the computer. The computer doesn't even recognize it when it is plugged in. Because that piece was loose, I bought a new battery cord, not through Gateway, but a universal cord at Best Buy. The computer also does not recognize that cord. Is this a common problem with this computer? Is the problem in the cord or in the computer where you plug it in? Any input would be great!

Seems more like a problem with the power receptacle where you plug the power cord into the laptop. In order to fix this problem, you will need to disassemble the unit to get access to the motherboard & replace the power receptacle with a good one.

My nv79 notebook charges up my battery to 100% the charge light turns blue and after 1 minute cuts off and requires restarting to start charging again

Try removing your battery and power on your computer with your power cord only. If you have no problem with the power cord alone, then you need to replace the battery.

I hope this helps!

Have you tried a System restore/recovery. Remove ALL media, DVD, CD, USB, shutdown, unplug, remove battery, plug in , reboot. Take a look starting page 91: http://support.gateway.com/s/Manuals/Mobile/8513206.pdf

I would think that unfortunately the hard drive, is faulty. You will have to replace it.

Battery

Either the battery connections are loosy, or the battery is too old and has to be replaced. Check the battery connection, if possible use a voltmeter to check the power at the battery pins.

My T-6330u no longer recognizes my hard drive I bought a new hard drive but the end result is the same is this something to do with the motherboard?

This can be from a number of things.
1rst, is the drive showing as disabled in your bios?
If not, with laptop powered off, then try unplugging the dc adapter and removing the battery. remove the hard drive. Let the computer sit for a few minutes.replace the battery but do not plug the dc jack back in. boot the computer without the hard drive and let it go to the point of failing boot with no hard drive.
Power off. hold down the power button and let it cycle power (goes on then off)
remove battery and replace hard drive. try to boot and see if this will allow your hard drive to recognize.
If this doesnt work then repost and can go from there

HOW do I remove the keyboard on a Gateway Laptop Model T-6330U, I spilled juice on keypad and heard sizzling when I restarted, and monitor fadded out. An external monitor works fine, and computer boots up...

You could send the laptop in for repair but it could be quite pricey, it sounds like the LCD is toast. If your keypad still works using an external monitor then you won't have to replace that.

Computer runs off battery only not the power cord (battery is brand new)

You have a serious problem with the power and charging circuit. Normally if the battery is faulty the laptop can function with the power adapter plugged and running off the mains.
If a techo cannot fix without replacing the motherboard, then replacing the motherboard might not be a cost effective solution.

You salvage the hard drive by inserting it into an USB hard drive adapter case and use it as an external USB hard drive.
Sorry about this, you have very few options.

Does the chager cord look damaged in any way? If not then it is probably the plug in the computer.
