Could be a few things, lets start with the simplest solution first. I assume you tried getting into safe mode first?

Reboot computer to the Windows CD and when prompted, go for the 1st repair option (R for recovery)
when you get the Dos prompt (back screen with white lettering) type in checkdsk /r. This will check your disc to see if there are any problems with it.

Reboot computer to the hard drive, see if this has resolved the issue, if not, you are looking at a second stage repair.

Now insert and reboot the CD rom and let it go to the point where it looks for an existing windows installation (the point past the recovery console). Click to repair the installation and allow it to complete.. you MAY get asked for your windows COA number.

If you STILL have problems after this, there is a possibility that the hard drive is damaged, usually this will show up in checkdsk or when trying to install windows again. Sometimes, even the repair function is not enough to make windows good again, and you may have to do a total re-install

If you get windows running again, i recommed you download a copy of HDD tune and run this on the drive, any bad sectors or RSA errors and you would be advised to get your data off asap and replace the drive

Follow this instructions http://support.microsoft.com/kb/822705 to repair the Operating system and retrieve your files. Or you can just reinstall the Operating system to make things easier if you dont have any important files in your computer.

The windows software may be corrupted causing start up failure, but is more than likely the hard drive is bad. If you have the original recovery disc do a complete re-install of the operational system, if this fails then suspect a bad hard drive.

Yes, the hard drive is corrupted. You will need to re-install the XP operating system or do a factory recovery. Check the Dell website for your computer through support and determine how.

My dell latitude D610 laptop keeps blue screening after selecitng the operating system (has 2 downloads of windows XP) and the stop code is "0x0000000A (0x00000002, 0x00000001, 0x804E7A0A)

Windows XP at this point is very buggy due to lack of support
Try to access your unit in safe mode and see if it works
when powering on press constantly F8 then select safe mode
if you are able to get in - try to save your information
if unable to get in and still getting a blue screen it could be either a system failure or hardware failure

How do i change my registerd name

You would need to edit the registry. Start up the registry and do a search for the name is currently has and all you need to do is change this.

In Windows XP the Reg Key is My Computer\HKey_Local_Machine\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion

The key should be roughly the same in later versions of Windows.

There is a problem with the start up files of windows. Try going into the "Start-up Repair" option of the windows, either by inserting the Windows installation CD and then rebooting the notebook or by pressing F1, F8 or F11 (depends on the manufacturer).
Please take a look at the following link from the Dell's website for further details: http://support.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/kcs/document?c=us&l=en&s=gen&docid=DSN_316068&isLegacy=true
