I need to fit a hose on Panasonic.

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. The best place to get information like that would be the Panasonic factory of which I will list below. But even I and Panasonic will need the brand name and model 3 in order to get you the correct hose for your particular model #. So the best thing is to call the factory to see what can be done on your model #. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.

How do I remove hose from end that goes into vacuum cleaner?

if it is a convulated hose then it is screwed in to the fitting as if it is a left hand thread
the end section in the fitting is normally glued in to the fitting as well, so you will have to use a small flat bladed screw driver and pass it along side of the hose to break the glue
whenyou have the hose out cut off the bad bit or fit the new hose in after you put a small bit of contact cement in the thread of the fitting

I went to OSH hardware. I unscrewed and took the portion of the faucet- that the hose from the steam cleaner was to fit into and I took the hose right into the store. I just bought my unit at the thrift store. Works great. I love it!

Power nozzle shuts on and off

HI There, When a Kenmore power nozzle cuts on and off, this usually indicates that your electrical hose has gone bad and has a short circuit somewhere. You can try and troubleshoot the hose to find out where the short is by trying to determine what position the hose is in when it cuts on and off, and try to isolate the short circuit by spinning the hose on both the end that plugs into the canister, as well as the end that plugs into the wand. Sometimes the short is in the wands, or even the swivel neck assembly on the power nozzle where the wands connect. I would say 9 times out of 10 though on Kenmore canisters, the problem is in the hose. Kenmore is actually manufactured by Panasonic, and the two brands use a lot of the same identical parts, including the electrical hose (most cases). If your Kenmore has a two position switch, with a setting for floors and carpets, then here's a link to the corresponding Panasonic hose that you can buy. The Panasonic hoses are a little more expensive then Kenmore, but the huge benefit is that they come 100% completely assembled, where as the Kenmore hose has to be assembled (which is extremely difficult even for me to do). Panasonic 3 Wire Electrical Suction Hose To Fit Kenmore Canisters On just a handful of Kenmore models, an additional modification has to be done with the internal switch. Kenmore must have had the hose modified so you'd have to buy the genuine Kenmore part, but luckily simply switching two wires on the switch will allow the Panasonic hose to work. Try just plugging in the hose into the vacuum first, and if it still doesn't work properly, then you can modify the switch. If you find that the short is in the wand or swivel neck, just use the comment field on this repair page and let me know, I'll be happy to follow up and walk you through either of these repairs as well. If this was helpful to you, please be so kind and rate the repair, or leave some feedback for me. This is greatly appreciated. Chris Jones GoVacuum.com

Vaccuum cleaner with a broken hose

Is it just the corrugations of the hose broken? With most hose fittings there are two small oval shaped lugs on the side of the fitting. Grab a small screwdriver and gently (you may need a little force) push these in to ease the click ring out.

Once out, you'll find a type of screw cuff. Some hoses just unscrew, some are glued in (use boiling hot water to soften to separate).

Cut the broken piece of hose off, make sure the click ring is still on the hose in the right direction, reaffix the screw cuff, and replace the hose (with click ring) back into the hose fitting.

If it's actually the hose fitting broken, check with your local Wertheim retailer or repairer.

Beater bar lost power - even after pushing reset button

Hi There,

If you've already tried resetting the power brush, and it still won't come on, this indicates that your electrical hose has most likely gone bad, and needs to be replaced.

This is actually a pretty common problem on Panasonic canisters, as well as Kenmore canisters (Panasonic makes Kenmore canisters).

In order to confirm this, what you'll need to do is purchase a simple electrical tester from Home Depot, or Lowes, and test the hose to make sure you have power making it through the hose.

To test this, remove the hose from the wand so you just have the handle of the hose in your hand with nothing attached to it. Put both ends of the electrical tester into the two female receptacles that plug into the wand, turn the machine on, and make sure that your hose is set to the carpet setting.

You definitely should have power coming to the hose at this part. If there is no power getting her, this indicates that your hose has gone bad. You may also just purchase a new hose (see link below), and if for any reason this doesn't fix your problem, you may return the hose to us within 60 days for a full 100% refund.

If the hose does have power at the end of it, repeat the process with the wand attached to the hose, but not connected to the power nozzle. If you have power getting to the hose, but not the wand, this indicates your wand has gone bad and need to be replaced. If you have power to your wand and hose, this probably indicates that the cord in the neck of the power nozzle has gone bad. Inspect the wire in the neck of the nozzle and see if you see any burning, or discoloration in on the male prongs.

I'm pretty sure that you'll just need to replace the hose, this is by far the most common problem on Panasonic canisters.

There are two different styles of hoses for Panasonic canisters. In order to find out which one is yours, remove the hose from the canister itself. Where the hose cuff plugs into the canister portion, look at the electrical prongs. There is either a 2 prong hose, or 3 prong hose. Here are links to both of the hoses. If your hose is a 3 position hose with a setting for bare floors, and carpets, then you have the 3 prong hose.

If this didn't fix your problem, please just use the comment section on this repair page and let me know what the outcome was after testing it with the electrical tester, and I'll be more then happy to try and do some more advanced diagnosing with you.

I hope this was helpful to you. If you found this helpful, please be so kind and rate my repair helpful, or leave feedback for me, this is really what keeps Fixya repair experts answering free questions, rather then just the premium questions that we get paid for. This is greatly appreciated.

I want to reconnect a hose to my dysons upright

You can find replacement hoses on eBay for the price of $20 to $30. Search for "DC07 hose". That, obviously is the easiest route. But, you can repair the old hose if the damage is near one end or the other of the hose. Damage in the middle of the hose will not leave enough length for effective use and thus buying a new hose makes since.

If you decide to repair the hose, you will need to use wire cutters to snip the wire in the hose below a point where the damage is and then use scissors or an exacto knife to trim away excess plasitic hose above the snip.

Remove the damaged hose section from the fitting that was cut off. You may need to use pliars to pull on the wire until it comes out. Check the inside of the fitting and remove any remaining debris so you have all of the grooves as clean as possible. The inside of the fitting is threaded like a nut and "screws" onto the hose. You will need some form of adhesive to help keep the hose attached to the fitting. I use silicone caulk for that purpose. Squeeze some into the threads on the fitting, screw the hose on and allow to dry over night.

Hope this helps.

Need to know if a replacement part can be purchased and where

Kenmore canisters are privately labeled Panasonic canisters and sometimes panasonic parts will fit them. Any reputable independent dealer should be able to tell you if the part you're looking for is intercharngable with a Panasonic, but he/she will probably need to actually see the unit.

Your other option is to take it to the Sears service dept. They are the only ones who have access to the schematics and "Kenmore" parts. It'll probably be more expensive through them though.

Hi I’ve got a Panasonic vacuum cleaner MC E468 1600W a few years old now but works well up to recent problem. Not picking up I checked the obvious things and found excessive air being sucked in around...

The hose on the back might be loose - check to see that the hose is not obstructing anything where it screws in at the back - or indeed the screws may be loose themselves; some of the MCE 468 models had an additional ring washer that sits between the hose and the body at the rear. Usually inside the machine where the bag is, there will be a gasket that fits over the hole of the dust channel leading from the dust bag - if this has come away then its a possible reason to why the suction is poor or excess suction coming off the back of the hose. If however the brush roll has stopped, it may well be that reason alone to why its not picking up as well so you should check the sole plate too as there may be some clogging or the motor pulley belt has snapped. Contact Panasonic UK customer services as they may well have the part for your machine. (http://www.panasonic.co.uk/html/en_GB/544169/index.html)
