Question about Juki Sewing Machines

1 Answer

I am having a problem with the automatic thread cut on the DDL-8500. It will sometimes cut the end of the needle off when used. It does not happen everytime. Sometimes the cutter will jam behind the needle when it is in the lowest position and bend the needle.

Adjusting the timing of the thread trimmer cam

How to adjust the timing

The timing of the thread trimmer cam for cot ton and synt hetic threads can be obulned simply by aligning the marker dot on the machine ann and the marker dot on the handwheel.

Till the machine head. manually tum the handwheel un til the thread take-up lever almost reaches its highest

position . and press th read take-up picket to the right by finger. This causes the earn toller 10 fit

in the groove of the thread trimmer cam. With this condition maintained, tum the handwheel in the direction

opposite to the nonnal rot ational direction . and you will find a position in which the handwheel no longer

turns. Then, adjust the cam timing so that marker dot on the machine ann is aligned with

marker do t on handwheel This provides the proper cam liming for ca tion
and synthetic threads.

I have juki ddl 8500 7 and the thread cutter will not worked

Is it making a noise when you try to cut? Most common is that your needle plate is bent down and is preventing your knives from doing their job. In this case, you can take the plate off, turn it over on a flat surface and use a hammer to flatten it. While the plate is off, test your machine and see if the blades are now moving. Make sure to keep your fingers away while you are doing this. :)
Now check to make sure your feed dogs are not cracked or broken and keeping the blades from moving. Next: Sometimes you either get a ball of thread or a piece of a broken needle caught in the blades as they try to cut and it can either bend the stationary knife (this knife is in the general shape of a backwards letter L) or break it off. If all the knife pieces are there, the small moving knife (that looks like a little flat fat bird with a big eye :) ) becomes dull and won't cut the thread when it moves against the stationary knife. In either case, you can replace the knife. The most common is to replace the stationary knife. It is the easiest to replace and can be ordered online with the part # from your parts book. If you don't have a parts book, try to contact your online sewing parts company for the part.

The thread on my Juki machine keeps breaking when I sew. How do i fix it. Also, How can i change the thread tension

there's a tension dial with numbers-0-9 --above the needle area- the smaller the number the looser the tension--the higher the number the tighter the tension

thread breaking-try this
try rethreading the machine
thread tension to tight
needle is bent or blunt
needle is inserted incorrectly
the thread is either too heavy or too fine for the needle

try this & see if it helps you
Cut 6-8 inch piece of thread of the spool you are going to use for your project
Take the needle you are going to use for the project
& insert the thread thru the eye of the needle
& lift one end of the thread to a 45 degree angle
& if the needle is the right size for the thread it will slide down the thread
But if the needle hangs on the thread you need one size larger needle for the thread
