SOURCE: vacume cleaner

Check the hose and see if it has a clog, also the hose at the bottom. The filters may be clogged, make sure they are clean and that air flows thru them, if not then replace them.

Hi there,

Sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your DC14. The cleaner should recline easily into the vacuuming position when one foot is placed on the cleaner head, and the handle is lowered. If it's not doing this, it's probably best if you get in touch with us directly. One of our experts will be happy to run through some troubleshooting over the phone with you, and provide further assistance. You can call us free on 08002980298 (UK), or 1866MYDYSON (US). We'll look forward to hearing from you.

Kind regards,

How do you change the belt

on the bottom of the vacume you should see about 4 screws ( philips ) that hold the plate in place, remove the screws and plate and this will expose the motor shaft, belt and roller ( you should also see the broken belt there two ) -- pop out the roller ( pull straight up ). put new belt onto the motorspindle and then onto the roller, snap roller back into place ( note: on the edges of the roller it is somewhat keyed to only fit into the vacume a certain way ), replace the the plate and screws and you are good to go. also while you are getting dirty -- clean the air filter and examine the hose between the floor roller and the suction hose for dirt build up and debris.

near the bottom of the vacume where the hose bends down to the floor sweeper, check to make sure there is no blockage. this is the most common problem with vacume suction. you can use a wire coat hanger to help loosen the dirt and debris from the line and it is sometimes easier to clean properly if you remove the bottom plate ( like you would if you were changing the belt ). also while you are getting dirty and having fun, this is a good time to clean the air filter, ( tap it out good or/and use a brush or air compressor to clear and clean ).

How do I change the bag on a dirt devil model 103?

On the open end of the bag that slips onto the vacume, there is a cloth "tab" sticking up from the band. Take hold of this tab and lift up while easily pulling back until you see the band about half way off the vacume. Now, you can take hold of the band and pull the bag the rest of the way off. You will notice that there is a "rib" in the middle of the band on the side that faces the vacume. That rib fits into the groove where the band goes on the vacume. When you install the bag put the band on this groove and work the band on around the housing. You can center the "tab" anywhere, just place it where you can get to it easy. The other parts you need are on the internet, I found them all including that rubber plug called the "attachment port" plug. The p/n for the replacement part is 3-201744-601. The original p/n is 3-501744-601 but you'll be better looking for the replacement part number. Good luck!

When I hit the power switch it turns on, but it will not stay on.

If this were mine I would take the old switch off and put a toggle switch from Home Depot in it. Make sure it's rated for 110 volts and the wattage of your machine or at least 100 watts. It should cost no more than 2-3 dinero or about 1/200th the cost of a new one.

  4. Remove 3 screws from SN plate then remove plate.
