How to Register DLL files

On Microsoft Window's operating systems, a DLL stands for Dynamic Link Library. DLL's are relatively small files that include a library of functions- usually data that can be shared across multiple applications. DLL's are called upon by various applications and can be loaded and utilized by these applications concurrently.
Registering a DLL
There are two easy ways that a DLL can be registered in your Window's operating system's registry, the first is the simplest, known as self registering files, the second way is to manually register a DLL.

Self Registering Files

It should be noted that many DLL files are self registering, they include information required to store themselves in the operating system's registry. As the name states, self registering files require no human intervention. Self registering files will automatically store themselves on your machine and become accessible when needed. Besides DLL files, other types of files that are sometimes self registering include .EXE and .OCX.

Manually Register Files

The second method used to register DLL files on your computer is via manual registration. Manually registering a DLL file is quite simple and can be done in only a few steps.
1. The first step is turn on your computer, launching your Window's operating system.

2. Once your Window's operating system has loaded completely, click on Start and then click on Run.

4. Once the command is input into the Run field correctly, press Enter.

5. Once the DLL has been registered, you should receive a confirmation in the form of a pop up box. This message will list your newly registered DLL file and confirm that is was successfully registered into the registry.

How to solve windows update problem

This issue occurs because the Wups2.dll file that is included in the latest version of Windows Update is not installed correctly.

For scenario 1, the registry entries that correspond to the Wups2.dll file are missing after the repair install of Windows XP. The release version of Windows XP does not contain the Windows Update software.

For scenario 2, the registry entries that correspond to Windows Update are changed back to the Windows XP SP2 version if you did not restart the computer before you install Windows XP SP3. The registry entries for the Wups2.dll file are changed to pointing to the Wups.dll file that is included in the release version of Windows XP SP2.
Method 1: Download and install the Windows Update Agent Method 2: Register the Wups2.dll file

its not the mother board

Download Wpcap.dll From the Internet
If the wpcap.dll is missing, you may try to download and install wpcap.dll file from a reliable and trustworthy online DLL Directory to repair the error. ST log.dll not working. Can you help ?

This is a problem related to "Dell DataSafe Online" system. Have you ran a Cleanup tool (Specially McAfee)? You have to be careful when you use Cleanup utilities or Registry Cleaners. Because they are extremely dangerous if not used carefully since they would delete Shared and Using Registry Entries and Files without letting you know.
  • Have you tried to do a System restore? If you didn't please do.
  • Just type rstrui in the "search box" and press enter. Its a simple process. Restore the machine back to a date which the utility was working fine. You can select the "Recommended Store" or a Store Point of your choice.
  • Or you can do the following. But you has to have the Software with you.
  • In your software, try to locate the Stlog.dll file. If you have found it you have to copy and paste it here.
  • %ProgramFiles%\Dell DataSafe Local Backup\Components\ProtectRP\Stlog.dll
  • Lets re register the DLL file now.
  • In the "search box" in the "Start Menu", type cmd and hit enter.
  • Type this and hit enter.
  • Regsvr32 Root:\Program Files\Dell DataSafe Local Backup\Components\ProtectRP\Stlog.dll
  • Root is the Partition which you have installed Windows on. C is the default.
  • You will see a Success message. If so, the DLL is registered successfully.

  • If you were unable to locate the DLL file or unable to do a System restore, you have to uninstall and reinstall the program or you have to stop Loading it when the Computer Starts.
  • Type msconfig in the "search box" and hit enter.
  • Go to the "Startup" tab.
  • Check for the Specific Software (Datasafe) or related components. Clear the Check Boxes. Then it will not be loaded again. Most probably it will be STServices.exe
  • You can uninstall the program using the Control Panel. But not sure whether it removes all the Components.

Feel free to contact me again.
If your problem got solved after following these steps, please be kind enough to RATE the answer as well.
Have a good day and thanks for contacting Fixya!
