SOURCE: Central air does not kick in.

It sounds like you have a bad capacitor to the compressor. The humming noise is the compressor not starting up but is trying. It is either the capacitor or the compressor form your description. If you had a lightning storm or power surge about the time this happened it is most likely a bad capacitor. You can have the capacitor tested to see. Disconnect power before working on unit!

SOURCE: My furnace keeps clicking on

Remove the front cover from your thermostat and see if it has a heat anticapator. THIS WILL BE A SMALL ROUND DIAL WITH A CENTRALLY MOUNTED POINTER and a selection of numbers on the outer rim. It should have an arrow on the face of the dial that points one way and says longer and the other way that says shorter.
Check on the rating plate on the gas valve for your furnace and see if you can find the amp. rating for that valve. A usual rating would be .30 or .35 amp If you can find that then hold the dial on your thermostat and move pointer to the closest setting. Put cover back on your stat and turn it up a little to make furnace come on.
Hopefully this will help you. Good luck Thank you and have a happy holidays

Selecting backlight ON will turn the light on for a short period of time after any button is pressed. Selecting backlight OFF (default) will keep the light off. Turn the display backlight feature ON as follows: 1. Press TIME and RUN buttons at the same time. The display will show "d-L" and "OFF" alternately

SOURCE: Windward II, model 55296;

First off you might try shutting down the power on the Windward itself. There may be a disconnect near the unit, or a breaker.. or the breaker may be in the house in the main breaker panel. In either case, turn it off for maybe 10 minutes and see if that resets the system for you.

Since they've been working for a year it's not the initial setup so hopefully the above gets you lined out. If not you'll probably want to check out Windward's customer service since that code probably isn't in your basic home-owner's manual you get with the unit.

If you know any local HVAC folks you might ask a technician if he has the problem codes (and symbols) for that model and they can give you an idea of what's up.

Good luck!

Wiring instruction for a White Rodgers 1F78 non-programable thermostat.

The White-Rogers 1F78 thermostat is a single stage 5/2 day programmable thermostat. Home Depot has the manuals for one model of this thermostat, 1F78-151, on the product page: . The wiring diagrams are in the Installation manual. The direct link to this manual is . Emerson Climate also has the wiring diagram here: .

If you have a different White-Rodgers 1F78 thermostat, check for the manual at Emerson Climate by starting at . Click on the Enter Model Number button and start typing in the model in the search box. I found a number of models with 1F78 listed. After selecting a specific model, I found a link to the installation guide on the left side of the page, below the search box. (Note: the manual link was above the Suggested Replacement header for the models that I checked.)

I hope this helps.

My White-Rogers 1F78 thermostat is stuck. There is the number 13 at left and 22 on right and no matter what I do, nothing moves. I put 2 new batteries in and no change. We use it for a hot water oil...

Take off the thermostat face and remove the batteries. Check to see if the back of the thermostat has a capacitor (looks like a small cylinder with 2 soldier connections) short out the capacitor with a paper clip or screw driver then reassemble. This will erase any old memory gliches & you should be able to use it as normal functions.

Our air stopped working and the thermostat inside the house is stuck digitally with a snowflake symbol, the hold symbol is on, everything is locked up..white rogers # 1f78 thermostat. a/c unit 4years old,

High, the 1f78 WR stat is the problem if it does not respond to any changes. I believe this stat has batteries, so you may just try to change them out. If not, go to any hardware store, Home Depot carries Honeywell stats that will work. I don't know if your unit is a heat pump, or not, if it is gas fired for heat, then it will take just a regular 5 day 2 day thermostat. They are easy to install, if not a heat pump, it will have a R for red which is the 24 volt hot, W or white for heat, G or green for fan, and either a Yellow for cooling, but blue is sometimes used. The stat will be marked with a Y on it. A heat pump has many more terminals, but the stat you have i am sure is just a gas/electric unit.If it does respond to all of your settings, and the unit will not start, you may have a problem out doors. Check all of your breakers to make sure they are not tripped. Please keep me posted.

Auxiliary light was lite on my white-rodgers 1f82-51 thermostate and i have no heat?

follow this guide:
Diagnostic: Set SYSTEM Switch to HEAT and raise
the setpoint above room temperature. Within a few
seconds the thermostat should make a soft click
sound. This sound usually indicates the thermostat
is operating properly. If the thermostat does not
click, try the reset operation. If the thermostat does not click after being reset contact your heating and cooling service person or place of purchase for a replacement. If the thermostat clicks, contact the furnace manufacturer or a service person to verify the heating is operating correctly.
