Question about Bosch Microwave Ovens

1 Answer

Unable to set temperature for oven. First I pressed Cooking Mode and chose Bake. Then I pressed Temperature and 350 appears and when I tried to turn the knob to increase that temp to 450, the temp amount shown went down by increments from 350 down to 150. It did not matter which direction I turned the knob I was not able to increase the temperature. I have tried every kind of combination and occasionally I was able to set the temperature higher(450), but this control seems 'out of control'! Is this a component that needs replacing on a 4-year old stove?

Wrong fix it answer. The oven temperature does not vary just the control knob does not set the desired temperature. If I turned the TEMP knob to increase the desired temperature, when first setting the oven temperature, the temp indicator sometimes shows the temperature going down instead of up. The oven setting normally begins at 350(the default start temp)but if I try to set the oven temp at 400, I should normally be able to increase the oven temp by turning the TEMP knob to the right and the indicator would show increments of 5 degrees with each slight turn. In my case the temp indicator might jump from 350 to 300 or 270 and even if I turned the TEMP knob the the right or left the temp indicator would continue decreasing. A SEARS service man was called by my wife and when he arrived yesterday the TEMP control knob worked perfectly every time. That visit cost $118! How can this happen? How can an oven electronic TEMP control work intermittently?

Hello

When an oven doesn't maintain the set temperature, first make sure no one is allowing the heat to escape by opening its door. If not, the oven control either needs to be re-calibrated or replaced.

If your oven has a calibration right on the knob, you can calibrate it as follows. If it doesn't call an appliance repair person. To adjust the thermostat's calibration:

Turn the oven off.

Pull off the temperature control knob. You can usually pry it off with a thin screwdriver or slide a piece of fabric up behind it and pull.

Note which kind of temperature control knob you have. There are two types: The first has a screw in the shaft of the knob; the second has an adjustment dial on the back of the knob.

Adjust the temperature with the first type by turning the screw in the shaft with a screwdriver. Turn it clockwise to lower the temperature; turn it counterclockwise to raise the temperature. Turn the screw just a little bit in the appropriate direction.

Adjust the temperature with the second type of knob by turning the dial on the back of the knob. (This dial is held in place with a screw or a clip that will need to be removed.) Raise the temperature setting by turning the dial counterclockwise; lower it by turning the dial clockwise. The notches are typically in 10-degree increments.

Notice the current setting, then move the pointer in either direction to adjust its temperature slightly up or down. It's intentionally difficult to move the pointer; on some models, you'll have to remove a couple of screws. Figure moving it one notch will change the setting by 10 degrees F.

Please guys help me, every time i baked the cookies , its always burned :(

The oven temperature may be too high. Get an oven thermometer and set it in the center of your oven and check to see if the temperature on your oven matches it. Many ovens run 25 degrees or more off of the set temperature. My mother's oven used to need to be set at 325 if she wanted it to bake at 350.

If the cookies are black on the bottom, but doughy in the centers, this may also be a case where the oven temperature is too high.
Another problem may be that you are baking them too long. Cookie baking is a precise thing. It may seem duh-obvious, but be sure you use a timer, lol. If the recipe calls for 10 minutes, and they are always burned, start checking them at 8 minutes.

If you are substituting honey for the sugar in the recipe, remember to lower the oven temperature by 25 degrees and decrease the liquids by a small amount to compensate. Honey browns/burns much faster than sugar.

Hope these suggestions help. =)

Hi, Look at the home breaker box or fuse box to check for a tripped breaker or blown fuse. If your oven is not heating because there is no power, you may need to replace a fuse or reset a breaker. Also check the power outlet to confirm that the oven is plugged into the outlet securely.

Press the "START/ENTER" button to get the oven to heat after selecting your temperature, if you cannot get it to heat. If you do not press this button within five minutes of setting the temperature, the oven heating cycle will automatically be canceled and the oven control panel will return to displaying the sign.

Calibrate the temperature setting on the oven if it is not heating at a temperature that you like. Do this by holding down the "BAKE" button until the current calibration setting appears, which will be a temperature followed by "CAL." Use the up and down arrow button to increase the temperature and press the "START/ENTER" button once you are done. You can increase in five degree increments up to an additional 35 degrees.

Call the Whirlpool customer interaction center at 800-253-1301 if your troubleshooting fails to fix your heating problem. The customer service representative can give you contact details for a local service technician so that you can have the oven looked at by a professional.

Hope it helped

How can i bake cake in my whirlpool convection microwave.every time it becum hard and tasteless.

To be honest, I don't know that it can. If it is hard, you are cooking it way to long. When it is in the microwave, it can't cook at the proper temperature. You can try cooking it for less time though. All you need to do is keep an eye on it more. Try checking it in half the time.

Also the fact it is a convection oven could mean the oven temperature sensor is not picking up the oven temp. it is not telling the machine it is there by the board seeing its resistance, the unit will shut off as a safety feature. The oven sees temperature by reading the value of a temperature dependent resistor. As the temperature changes so does the value of the component ( oven temp sensor) that way the unit determines the temperature inside the unit. Sometimes those sensors will break since they are in the area with the heat and moisture, they get old and break.

Kenmore Gas Range model # 362.75491990 F3 error Oven will not hold temp - error message displays and beeps I Replaced the oven temp sensor same issue Is the control panel bad?

Hi,

Many models of the GE microwave have sensors that can detect humidity from the foods you are cooking. This allows the microwave to make adjustments to the power levels used to cook your food. If "Sensor Error" appears, you should either press "Clear" to cancel the mode or leave the food in the appliance longer to give the microwave more time to detect the food.

Press "Time Cook" to manually enter the time if you receive an error message when trying to use the "Sensor Reheat" mode of your GE microwave. The error message may be caused by the food item being too large or too small to detect.

these are some other code error that will help you in case of next time.

  1. Step 1 Press "Off/Cancel" (or "Cancel/Off" depending on your model) to clear the error code. Note the code if it reappears.
  2. Step 2 Replace the touchpad if the code displayed is "F0," "F7" or "F10." A function key is stuck or shorted.
  3. Step 3 Replace the touchpad or the clock (ERC) if the code "F1" is displayed. Disconnect the ribbon connector to the touchpad. If no code is displayed after an hour, replace the touchpad. If the code displays again, replace the clock.
  4. Step 4 Replace the oven temperature sensor if "F2," "F3" or "F4" is displayed. "F2" indicates the oven temperature is too hot and the oven temperature sensor is suspect. "F3" or "F4" indicates the oven temperature sensor or shorted or open.
  5. Step 5 Replace the ERC if "F5," F6" or "F8" is displayed. The ERC is the main control unit. "F5," F6" and "F8 are codes that indicate problems in the ERC functions.
  6. Step 6 Inspect the door-lock assembly and circuit if "F9" is displayed. The door must lock when the oven is in use. If the lock mechanism is not functioning or if the detection circuit is malfunctioning, the stove will display "F9."

jQuery('.article ol .image').each(function(i,e){ var $this = jQuery(this); $this.find('img').error(function(){ jQuery(this).remove(); $this.remove(); }); }); NOTE:

"F3" codes mean your oven temperature sensor has failed or shorted out. The only thing you can do is to replace the sensor.

Take care.

My old GE oven (JSP38G052BG) won't bake or broil. It start then stop after 1 or 2 minutes. The heating elements get worm. Can you help me please

Hello ediben11.

If your oven's bake or the broiler heating elements won't heat but the range burners still work;the clock may be set for a timed or self-cleaning cycle. So,make sure to check the clock buttons and the knobs are set properly.
*If your clock has a knob that says "push for manual" then push the knob in after that, try the baking and broiling elements again.

*If it still does not work properly, you may have a defect in the thermostat/selector switch/common wiring.

*If the oven does not have a separate bake or broil selector switch; then the thermostat is probably the problem. It is not easy to check the selector switch or thermostat for proper operation. If you suspect a problem in this area, call a qualified appliance repair technician.

Hope this helps.
