Question about Cameras

Open Question

I have a Sunset GD 3000 tripod.I want to copy some old pictures. Is it possible, and how do I do it to the move head unit from top of tripod to bottom of center support so can capy pictures on table under tripod. If you don't know this model, hints on how other models do it would be helpful. I was able to unscrew the head leaving a 1/4 inch stud, but don't know how or if can move it to bottom. Thank you for any ideas and help.

SOURCE: Pink circles and glares with sunset photos

It may have to do with the black ring. (think football players). I'm guessing either that or the more sensitive, noisier CCD is to blame!!! Good Luck!!!

SOURCE: can C-5050 be repaired?!!!!!help!!!

It can be repaired, the lens most likely came off its "tracks". All zoom lenses work the same way, an inner lens tube has helical tracks that turns and the outer lens is on a slide, the outer lens lugs ride in the helical tracks and move the outer lens in and out. The C5050 has a fragile lens exxtender feature and it is the weak link in an otherwise superior 5Mp camera. If you are not willing to take the plunge by removing the lens from the camera (a rather involved procedure) I can attempt to get the lens back on its track. I dont believe it will focus corectly without an aligned lens as the focal plane will not be uniform across the CCD. Let me know at pishta68 at hotmail dot com

SOURCE: Unable to unscrew camera from mounting plate tripod

The mounting plate may have a small pin with a spring to fit certain kinds of cameras.
Don't try to twist the plate off the camera, that may damage the bottom of the camera.
Instead, the plate should have a slotted screw in the bottom that screws into the camera. Unscrew the bolt with a good screwdriver.

Hope that helps.

SOURCE: Need a part for an

Hi misguy,

I´ve got the same problem. with google I found:

www.SpartanPhotoCenter.com

QS-14 Quick Release
for Ambico tripods and others using a square dovetail with a 41mm wide opening. It fits standard 35mm or video cameras.
qs-14.jpg 1 2 3 4 5 Promaster 3502 QS-14 $ 12.99

Maybe, it solves your problem.

For me the price and especially shipping to Europe ist to much, so I´m keeping searching.

Yes, your 600d has 1/4 threads at the bottom wich is ideal for tripod mounts, take the tripod head off the tripod, and line up the 1/4 tripod head and camera and screw in the tripod head into the camera (bottom), if any questions contact me thanks 4_15_2014_1_41_51_am.png

Is there a Carbon fibre small compact with splitter

Carolyn
-If you are looking for a compact light weight (CF) tripod for video...., that is going to be...., stable & durable (for use with a smaller video camera or a DSLR) & with a mid-level spreader...., I have some bad news for you. They do not exist!!!!!
-You can get a number of tripods that meet some of these requirements..., but not all!!!
-No fear....., it is still possible to get a tripod that is small, light, repairable and with a higher weight capacity and better durability than either of the Manfrotto tripods you mentioned..., but they will not use a mid-level spreader!!!

-Questions for you...., the manfrotto #055CXB has a column that terminates with a flat plate & a 3/8-16" thread. The Manfrotto # MTV502AM tripod has a 75mm bowl mount. Do you use a video head with a flat base or with a 'bowl'?
-If your head has a flat base consider looking at CF tripods from brands such as Sirui (#N2204 or #N3204)..., great value tripod from China..., or products from Gitzo or Really Right Stuff...., (superior products...., and your grandkids will be using them..., but pricey)!!!!
-If your head uses a 75mm bowl mount get the Miller #1501 tripod...., stupidly strong and well supported.

-Bottom line..., with light to mid weight cameras, if you go with a good quality spreaderless tripod that uses 'rotary locks' vs 'quick release' locks...., the leg mechanisms are so superior that you will find that you will get less flex than most tripods with spreaders. They will also be smaller, lighter and allow you to shoot far closer to the ground!!!

Go t a shop that has a good selection of quality tripods and test for leg twist..., you will be converted!!! (note: to test this leg flex..., extend the legs & grab hold of (2) of the tubes near the top 'crown' and then try to move the legs to the left then right...., many will exibit significant flex at the joints!!!!

Can i put a ball head on the 757 tripod

If the original head on the 757 will come off then you possibly can put one on there given the bolt on the bottom is a standard 3/8" or 1/4" screw. You can find some heads here: www.spartanphotocenter.com

Send some pictures to email@spartanphotocenter.com and we might be able to see what the issue is. Unfortunately, Slik doesn't carry spare parts so if the entire pan-head is broken you may need a new tripod.

I am looking for advice on how to mount a Ball Head on the plate of a regular tripod, So far I have not found a Ball Head that has the same size thread in the bottom. Is an adapter available as a solution....

The bottom threads on most tripod heafs are 3/8", but some are 1/4"/ The mounting screws on MOST tripods are 3/8", but I have seen `/4" (especially on monopods. IF:
tripod=3/8 head = 1/4 need mounting plate 3/8 female to 1/4 male
tripod = 1/4 head - 1/4 nothing
tripod 3/8 head 3/8 nothing'
tripod 1/4 head = 3/8 there is an adapter/reducer that screws into the 3/8
' female and reduces that to 1/4"

My tripod is in 2 peices

Usually with expensive tripods the head and body come in 2 parts. So the top should just screw onto a medal screw on the top. But usually cheaper ones come as one unit. if this is the case it might just be broken and need to be glued or scrapped. Its hard to tell without a picture of both parts.

How to Unscrew SLIK tripod head from the rest of tripod?

Below the tripod head you will see what looks like a "sandwich" of two chromed pieces of metal.  The lower one is the top of the tripod's center column.  The upper one is the bottom of the tripod head. Using wrenches or other tools, unscrew the upper one counterclockwise to separate it from the lower one. There is a 1/4" threaded stud which holds them together.
If you plan on replacing the head with a pro head like a Manfrotto, you will need a reducing bushing.  Most heads expect a 3/8" stud, and this tripod's thread is a standard 1/4" stud. The adapters are available through Wolf, Adorama, B&H, and the like.
