A pressure switch has many functions depending on the application. they are used in boilers to sense that there is enough water in the boiler. furnaces have them to insure the vent fan is working. pool boilers use them to sense that pumps are flowing water through the boiler. does this help?

Why do I get an error saying that the pressure switch is open

pressure switches in washing machines , control the water level
in your case the program telling you the pressure switch did not operate when machine was filling or emptying , it may not be the pressure switch that is at fault , it could be the small pipe connected to the pressure switch is blocked with muck , so disconnect machine, find pressure switch , pull of pipe and blow through
cycle pump may do trick ,otherwise replace pressure switch.
good luck.

E34 code what does this mean

Incongruence between level of electronic
pressure switch and level of anti-boiling
pressure switch 2 (duration of fault at least 60
seconds).
Cycle is blocked with door closed.
Could be: Hydraulic circuit of pressure switches; electronic
pressure switch; pressure switch; wiring between main PCB and electronic pressure switch; wiring between main PCB and safety pressure switch; and finally main PCB.

Switch interruptor

If we are talking about a pressure switch, it usually is the low pressure cut-off switch. Before messing with this switch, verify what your Freon pressure is.
If the pressure is low, the low pressure switch may be fine and you need to add Freon and find out why the Freon escaped.
If you have high pressure, there is a second switch which cuts power to the compressor. Too much Freon will activate this switch.
Tip: You have both a high and low pressure switch. The proper amount of Freon will center the pressure and keep the compressor running more consistently.
Either pressure switch unscrews from the fitting and with a minimum of pressure can be removed from the lines and replaced. The housing should have shapes for wrenches.

Diagnostic code P1782

P1782 DODGE - 2/4-OD Pressure Switch Circuit Possible causes of this code are: - Low transmission fluid level (check level hot transmission only)
- Dirty transmission fluid (has transmission been serivced at least every 60,000 miles, fluid and new filter?)
- Faulty 2/4-OD Pressure Switch
- 2/4-OD Pressure switch poor electrical connection
- 2/4-OD Pressure switch circuit is open or shorted
P1782 DODGE Description The pressure 2/4-OD Pressure Switch is part of the pressure switch of the transmission. The pressure switch are located in the solenoid assembly. The switch provide input information to the Transmission Control Module (TCM). The switch will inform to the TCM is pressure exist in a specified hydraulic circuit. the TCM uses this information to verified that the solenoids are working or not.

LARRS LX 400N It will not start the ignition sequence. Flame switch is OK. Limit switch mounted on the right outside of the upper cabinet is OK. Have low voltage. The pressure switch is open (is there...

"The pressure switch is open (is there supposed to be water pressure on the pressure switch so that it will close?)"

All switches need to be closed in order for this heater to start.
If you know you have good water flow (at least 50gpm) and your finding the pressure switch still open, it is either failed or clogged. Clean or replace the pressure switch.

I need to know where the oli sending unit is and how to replace it?

Fig. 1: Location of the oil pressure switch-3.3L and 3.8L engines

zjlimited_306.jpg

Fig. 2: Location of the oil pressure switch-3.0L engine

zjlimited_307.jpg

Fig.: Oil pressure switch (sending unit) schematic

The low oil pressure warning lamp will illuminate when the ignition switch is turned to the ON position without the engine running. The lamp also illuminates if the engine oil pressure drops below a safe oil pressure level. To test the system, perform the following:

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
  2. If the lamp does not light, check for a broken or disconnected wire around the engine and oil pressure sending unit switch.
  3. If the wire at the connector checks out OK, pull the connector loose from the switch and, with a jumper wire, ground the connector to the engine.
  4. With the ignition switch turned to the ON position, check the warning lamp. If the lamp still fails to light, check for a burned out lamp or disconnected socket in the instrument cluster.

REMOVAL & INSTALLATION
On the 2.4L engine, the oil pressure switch is located on the side of the engine block facing the firewall. On the 3.0L engine, the oil pressure switch is located on the oil filter adapter housing, next to the starter motor. On the 3.3L and 3.8L engines, the oil pressure switch is located next to the oil filter.
  1. Locate the oil pressure sending unit on the engine.
  2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  3. Disconnect the pressure switch electrical harness.
  4. Using a pressure switch socket, deep-well socket or wrench, loosen and remove the pressure switch from the engine.
To install:
  1. Install the pressure switch into the engine and tighten securely.
  2. Attach the electrical connector to the switch.
  3. Connect the negative battery cable.
  4. Start the engine, allow it to reach operating temperature and check for leaks.
  5. Check for proper oil pressure switch operation.

Hope this helps (remember to rate this answerr).
