Try a new cable if you or your friend have one. Could very well be the GPU issue, very common for older xbox360.

If you mean there is sound on the console and the xbox is starting up but there is no pictures then try spinning around the yellow av cord, (Yellow cord is the cord that produces the pictures on the screen) and if that still doesent work then you may need to buy some new av cords. =]

Niether the hdmi chord or the av chord are producing any type of picture on the tv. when i turn the ps3 on the green light comes on but nothing displays on the tv?

Sounds like the Video device for your PS3 has died. You will have to either replace it, or contact PlayStation about getting it repaired.

The display chip is overheating you need to stop this heat, you can do this with a good Xbox 360 Repair guide or you can send it in.

My hdmi cable only transfers sound and no video

it might be because your ps3 is set to display video output higher than the tv is capable of producing. This happened to me when i brought my ps3 home to play on my tv at home. i previously had it set at 1080i output, but my tv at my house was only capable of producing 720p so i got the same problem as you. You can cut the ps3 on, then hold down the on button until you hear a second beep. this will return your video setting to normal (480i) and you can see if you have picture then.

What if i cant see the picture abut her sound and its not the av cables

Then it's pin 428-430 on the G.P.U has broken open
due to thermal fatigue , the best fix for this problem
is to have the G.P.U. re-flowed and then properly
clamp down , and stress tested . that's what I do
and i produces a solid repair. some unit's are difficult
and refuse to stay working but this is a small percentage.

That's it

Have good picture, but no sound from Wii

Make sure no other game console is hooked up to the spliter then turn everything off... turn the TV on first, then the game system, if the system still doesn't produce sound then get a NEW dedicated cable Hope that helps

Display

To troubleshoot sound without picture issues, follow these steps:
  1. Reset the resolution of the console to 640x480. To do this, start the console, hold both triggers, and then press and hold the Y button as the console starts. For more information about how to reset your display settings, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base: 911059 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/911059/ ) How to reset your Xbox 360 console display settings to the default display settings If you see a picture on the display after you try this step, you can continue to use the 640x480 resolution, or you can try to use a higher resolution setting. If you still cannot see a picture, continue to the next step.
  2. Disconnect the VGA HD cable from the display, and then remove the console power cord from the power outlet.
  3. Wait five seconds.
  4. Reconnect the console power cord to the power outlet, and then turn on the console.
  5. Reconnect the VGA HD cable to the display. If you can see a picture on the display after you try this step, you can continue to use the 640x480 resolution, or you can try to use a higher resolution setting.
