Try remove the battery and unplug it from the AC. Hold down the power button for 35-45secs. plug AC back and see if you can power it back on. If not, the motherboard is shot.

This is a mother board problem. Ihave the same problem with mine.
I have found a couple of faulty fets in the power supply (on the mother board). I have ordered some extra components and going to try and fix it over the coming weeks.

ATX V2.3 / EPS12V V2.92 both define that the PSU has to use remote sensing to compensate cable drops on the 3.3V line. Because of this there is an additional brown cable crimped together with the orange cable either to pin 13 (ATX) or pin 1 (EPS12V). 14 -12V Blue -12 VDC 15 COM Black Ground 16 /PS_ON Green Power Supply On (active low). Activating /PSON connects the power supply's /PSON input to ground, thereby switching the power supply to full-on condition.

Acer will not turn on or charge

Sounds like the power supply is dead. It probably has an inline AC adapter and that usually has an LED which should be bright green if working. Check that and also if it is cold, warm, or hot when plugged into the computer. If cold, no power going thru. Warm to hottish is usual state with green LED.
If you have access to a regular VOM meter, set it for DC voltage and check voltage at end that goes into computer. This should be around 12 VDC. Again, if nothing then the p/s is dead and needs replacing.
If the p/s checks out OK, then the problem is inside the laptop. That will need a technician to check out. Could be anything from a loose wire to a burned out capacitor or chip. good luck.

Hi,

It is possible that there is a problem with the connection from your power supply going to the main board of your laptop.
This is rather a technical problem and my best recommendation is to bring your laptop to a technician and have them check it.

Hope it helps!

Thanks!

I want to convert this power supply for use with a battery charger for model aircraft. I need to know the color codes for the wires and also the pinout and which wire is the power on.

Pin Name Color Description
1 3.3V Orange +3.3 VDC
2 3.3V Orange +3.3 VDC
3 COM Black Ground
4 5V Red +5 VDC
5 COM Black Ground
6 5V Red +5 VDC
7 COM Black Ground
8 PWR_OK Gray Power Ok (is a status signal generated by the power supply to notify the computer that the DC operating voltages are within the ranges required for proper computer operation)
9 5VSB Purple +5 VDC Standby Voltage (max 10mA)
10 12V Yellow +12 VDC
11 3.3V Orange +3.3 VDC
12 -12V Blue -12 VDC
13 COM Black Ground
14 /PS_ON Green Power Supply On (active low). Short this pin to GND to switch power supply ON, disconnect from GND to switch OFF.
15 COM Black Ground
16 COM Black Ground
17 COM Black Ground
18 -5V White -5 VDC
19 5V Red +5 VDC
20 5V Red +5 VDC

/PSON activated by pressing and releasing the power button while the power supply is in standby mode. Activating /PSON connects the power supply's /PSON input to ground, thereby switching the power supply to full-on condition.
18 AWG is recommended for all wires except pin 11, which should be 22 AWG. For 300W configurations 16 AWG is recommended.
There are several ATX variants.
Hope this helps.
If this helps you resolve your problem, please
consider giving me a rating of 4.It will help me as well. Thank you.

The acer l100 does not power on at all no lights or fan running

If the computer is not starting then and the power supply is ok then you need to try a different charger. If the problem still exist this may a sign that the motherboard is dead and need to be replace, because when a motherboard is dead it the computer will not receive any power.
Thank you

I have replaced the power supply on my Acer Aspire X1700 computer but the new power supply acts exactly like the old. When I plug it in and turn it on the "Power Supply On" voltage goes from 5 VDC to 0 VDC...

When you have this problem on this PC, do not replace the power supply or the motherboard until you have first tried pulling out the video card. When the video card fails it can cause the x1700 to not power up. Pull the video card and see if it will power up without it.
