Question about Gaggia Classic Espresso Machine

1 Answer

Gaggia classic for Christmas! About 50% of the time, I get frothy coffee spurting out all over the kitchen, even with the PF positioned properly in the machine, and very careful attention to the quantity of coffee using the measure provided. Any suggestions?

Use the other coffee basket insert. There are two double shot baskets supplied. Use the one that has perforations on th entire bottom

Sounds like a pressure buildup possible because the grind is too fine and or the expansion valve is not opening to relieve the extra pressure after 12 bars.

Hi, My Gaggia Classic is not working. No water

try to clean the group shower which it can be ansrew by one cetrer screw and if you can you can open the machine and remove to clean also the coffee group solenoid valve. Bothe the valve and shower can be full of dry coffee that can blocked the way of water coming to the grounded coffee.
If you manage to clean everything above and the machine work ok so from now on in order to avoid the problem again try to flush water from the group many times without any coffee. With this is like you wash the group shower and valve from any remai coffee.
Good luck

Gaggia Classic Spurts Everywhere

Hi there if your coffee is spurting out the sides it is because the group gasket is worn or has gone hard through use and now needs replacing. Basically when you twist your coffee handle on it doesn't always form a perfect seal and so the pressure causes the coffee to spurt out the sides. If you are not sure where to get parts get in touch with David at coffeeservice@live.com and he will be able to sort you out.

Gaggia classic not producing hot coffee

Two questions; is the water coming out of the head without coffee hot and can you get steam out of the wand?. If yes to both then try running the group with the portafilter in it to warm that up before making a coffee.

Coffee spurting everywhere!

Unlike the other person offering a solution I have experienced this problem like you when making the first cup. I found that sending a blank shot of water through first does the trick before putting the coffee grounds on. Hope this helps.
