    It is a Sony RDR-VX525

  • jglenfield Dec 29, 2010

DVD flashes on the console, but the remote does not have a slide on the cover. The DVD 1, 2 and 3 shows on the tv screen when the remote is working.

  • jglenfield Dec 29, 2010

Have been trying to get DVD 1 off the receiver, but it just won't work. It should be on DVD 3. I have been holding enter while pressing 3, but it will not change.

  • jglenfield Dec 30, 2010

Did you get my reply that pressing enter and the number did not work? The receiver still says DVD 1. It should read DVD 3. I tried numerous times to get it ot work, but it just will not change over to DVD 3.

  • jglenfield Dec 30, 2010

I did that, several times. It still won't change.

  • jglenfield Dec 30, 2010

I finally got it working!!!!! Thanks for all your help

OK, It is a Sony RDR-VX525
If you press remote buttons, any message appears in front display of combo?
This combo remote can operate three same model players at same time by selecting remote mode. Check lower part of remote, slide cover and look for DVD Mode slide switch, select DVD-1, DVD-2 or DVD-3 and check remote operation.
Let me know your findings if problem still not solved.
    Thanks.

Oops, extremely sorry on wrong info.
Try following method to change remote mode and check,
    Hold down ENTER
While holding down ENTER, enter the command mode code number using the number buttons
(depends on what remote mode is activated in dvd combo unit)
    DVD1 number button 1
    DVD2 number button 2
    DVD3 number button 3
Hold down both the number buttons and ENTER at the same time for more than 3 seconds
    Remote will start working.
    Thanks.

    another info about dvd combo..
To check the command mode for the recorder Press (stop) on the recorder when the recorder is turned off. The command mode for the recorder appears in the front panel display
Now you can set appropriate command mode in remote as explained in previous post
    Thanks.

Let me know if you have additional question.

    Shahid Electronics Dec 30, 2010

    Unit/ receiver shows DVD1, right?
You need to press Enter and 1 for three seconds.
    Remote will work now.

  • Shahid Electronics
    Shahid Electronics Dec 30, 2010

    Let me explain it again.
DVD Recorder shows dvd1 mode when you press remote keys that means dvd recorder has been set on dvd1 remote mode and will accept dvd1 remote mode signals only.
Now you need to change command mode of remote itself so to communicate with dvd remote. Press and hold Enter and 1 numeric keys on remote control for at least 3 seconds or longer, this will change command mode in remote control itself so dvd recorder will accept its signals.
All these info also available in user manual, click Sony Support link to download user manual free copy for more details.

I would like simple steps to transfer VHS to DVD on my Toshiba DVR620KY. I want to copy with the unit alone. Would appreciate your help. Thanks.

Hi ,

Please follow the instructions below to record from VHS to DVD. You may not be able to record from some pre-recorded VHS cassettes due to copyight protection embedded into the recording. You should stick some tape over the copy-protection tab on cassettes prior to recording if the tab has been removed. On some cassettes, there may be a slide switch which needs to be moved to the record/rec position. All pre-recorded cassettes will have the copy-protection tab removed.

1. Switch on the TV and DVD/VCR and select the correct input on the TV for the player.
2. Set the player for the recording direction, i.e. VCR to DVD . . .

- Press the SETUP key on the Toshiba remote to open the on-screen menu
- Use the UP/DOWN arrow keys to highlight GENERAL SETTING then press ENTER
- Use the UP/DOWN arrow keys to highlight RECORDING then press ENTER
- Use the UP/DOWN arrow keys to highlight DUBBING MODE then press ENTER
- Use the UP/DOWN arrow keys to highlight VCR > DVD then press ENTER
- Press the SETUP key again to close the on-screen menu

3. Press VCR to select VCR mode.
4. Insert the cassette you wish to record and fast-forward or rewind it to the position where you want to start recording from. Allow at least 5 seconds extra if not starting the recording from the beginning of a cassette.
5. Press PLAY then press PAUSE immediately.
6. Press DVD to select DVD mode
7. Insert a blank DVD
8. Press the REC MODE button to select the recording mode (XP / SP / LP, etc)
9. Press the DUBBING key to start the recording.

You can watch the VCR while it's recording. When you reach the point where you want the recording to end, press the STOP key. You do not need to repeat step 2 every time you record. The player will stay in VCR > DVD recording mode unless you change it.

Hopefully, you will now be able to record from VCR to DVD. If you need further assistance, please let me know.

Regards,
BElectric

Remote doesn't work for DVD Recorder

It is now working. The DVD is below a Panasonic TV. We blocked the tv remote sensor and the DVD remote started working. We have unblocked the tv sensor and the dvd remote is still working. I'm not sure what was wrong or how exactly we fixed it.

CANNOT PROGRAM

Do you have a universal remote? Sometimes they will forget their programming, especially when batteries are removed, or get low. If you have the codes and instructions for your remote, I would try reprogramming it. If that doesn't work, take it back to the company that did the cleaning. It worked when you sent it to them, or at least if it didn't this wasn't wrong with it. Seems to me they hold some liability in this, and should make it right without charging you.

Hold the "Enter" button and press number 1 on the keypad simultaneously for more than 5 seconds. This takes you back to the "Settings" screen with the "Settings" button, change the control back to DVD 3, and reverse the setting in the remote by pressing "Enter" and the number 3 this time. Remember to hold them down for more than 5 seconds.

Hope this helps

MY DMR-EH55 has problems repsonding to the supplied remote control

Firstly, check you do not have bright light shining across the IR sensor. This can degrade the signal to noise ratio of the IR receiver.

Second, check you do not have a noisy mains electricity supply, arcing plug block or running from square wave inverter supply. Either of these can cause problems with IR receiver in the DVD player.

Remote stops working

Your remote is going bad and the only solution is to buy another one or buy a universal but it will only let you use the basic functions like play, rew,ff , stop and on time recording, I don think it will let you program for recording it or use the menu,a new remote will cost almost as much as a new VCR.The universal is a very inexpensive option.
