Question about Teac DV-3000 DVD Player

Open Question

Goodevening, I have a DVD Player TEAC DV3000 for 8 years and has always gone very well, but has recently started to not read discs, and now no longer recognizes nothing and returns a "no disc" and later there is no longer able to open the cassette player and remove the disc and even turn off the player to do what is necessary to remove the power and return it to open the tray. What could this happen? It can be a problem of dirt? Or it may be the laser? Or even a firmware update? By the way, but this type of DVD players have a firmware upgradeable? Thanks for the help. Sergio

SOURCE: Does anyone know how to de-code or hack a TEAC

This works with some dvd players, don't know if it'll work with yours... With the remote, open the tray... punch in 9,9,9,9...and then enter, and then '0' and hit enter again. This breaks the region code or allows playing of any disk.

Disc is loaded we push play and the machine says no disc. We have tried a second disc with same results. Can you help?

Unfortunately the problem is in the laser pickup assembly, overtime the laser becomes weaker until it can no longer track a DVD disc. One option is buy a disc cleaning kit and follow instructions to remove dirt from the lens, if this fails you are further ahead replacing the DVD player.

Staarting to not get past certain discs mennu screens.....

We have had out Toshiba P25-S509 for a very long time. It's a great laptop and watching DVDs with a wide screen was great; That is, until the CD/DVD player was no longer recognized by the computer. We took it in (still under warranty) to have it fixed, only to not work again after a couple of months.

Now YEARS have gone by and I have bought another Toshiba (M305D-S4831) which is great unless you try to reboot and it doesn't fully start up. That's for another review, not this one... So, back to the P25-S509 and YEARS later. We just received two 1GB memory cards, which are being used to replace the "stock" two 256 MB memory cards. Well, the computer is MUCH FASTER and THE DVD PLAYER FINALLY WORKS!!! Woo-Hoo! $98.00 investment in memory cards saved up from ditching the older Toshiba.

Hope this review helps someone out there that might have had the same problem.
