The diagonal comes in 3 sizes --- .965, 1.25, and 2 inch sizes. Measure the hole in the focuser and buy the correct size. The .965 size is difficult to find. Try these online retailers:

I look through my 6mm vivitar lens and the view is almost upside down?

All astronomical telescopes show upside down and or inverted images-- it's completely normal. To use this for terrestrial viewing (klijke a spotting scope) you will need to buy the correct size erecting prism diagonal similar to this one:

Put the diagonal in the scope first and then put the eyepiece with the largest number written on it into the diagonal. TURN THE FOCUS KNOB to focus the telescope. Practice during the day time on a distant object.

Just assembled 76700 Model Vivitar Telescope, not getting an image through the viewer.

Put the diagonal into the focuser and then put the eyepiece that has the largest number written on it into the diagonal. DO NOT USE the 2 x barlow if you have one. Take the lens cap off!

Practice focusing on a distant object during the day time by slowly turning the focuser knob right and or left until you get a sharp image.

I want to look out at the city with a telescope. What should I get?

The scope has upside down images--- all astronomical telescopes do this it is normal.

You can buy an "erecting prism diagonal" for this scope if the focuser hole is 1.25 inch-- here:

The mirror you look into has come off

This is the diagonal mirror-- you can buy another diagonal but you will NOT like the price. We receive many complaints on this small "toy" telescope. Read this:

How to assemble telescope

This is a small refractor style telescope. Put the diagonal into the focuser at the rear, then put the eyepiece with the largest number written on it into the diagonal. That's it-- very simple.

All astronomical telescope show upside down images. It's normal, nothing is wrong with your scope. You can buy an "erecting prism" diagonal for terrestrial viewing.

Vivitar Telescope 50x100

The telescope is designed for astronomical viewing. A 'terrestrial viewing' adapter would be needed to correct. Alternatively, use a diagonal adapter, and look in the downward direction. That will give a partial correction (the image inversion is why binoculars have prisms to correct the view)
