Question about Univex Food Mixers

1 Answer

I have a M30 mixer and need toget the pin out so that i can put a new one in. I have tried pin and hammer. I dont want to keep hammering away as to not destroy the bearings in the encased shaft. I have started to drill at it but, no luck in drilling through. Is that supposed to go all the way through?

The retaining pin wears causing it to stick inside the shaft ,best thing i can think off is to leave it alone as it could run forever like this, trying to drill it is useless without a diamond drill bit as the pin is hardened steel ,possibly in excess of 60 rockwell C .As and when it shears then its easy to remove but hammering it will only welt the end making it jam in even harder .The motor could burn out before it wears away or a bearing go ,the only way to remove it is a press as this will not damage the end too much ,unless their is a secondary cotter pin locking this one in

How do I put the silver ring back on my Kitchen Aid Classic

Tip machine upside down on a towel and try and encourage it back on again with a rubber hammer. Sometimes they just keep springing off. A small piece of sellotape on opposite sides will sometimes give it the grip it needs to stay on. Trim off any overhangs when you're done.

Help! Groove pin won't come out of the planetary shaft after repeated hammering.

Get the mixer onto its side, use the correct size punch and a bigger hammer. The last thing you want to be doing is drilling the pin out. If you cannot get the pin out it will not render the machine useless, it just means that the job is beyond your capabilities and you need to get someone with experience to do it for you.

It probably is the worm gear but you must remove the planetary roll pin to be able to split the gearcase. You will find another smaller roll pin in the worm gear. Your speed lever problem will be either a loose screw that it pivots on or the lever is bent. Hammer and correct size punch is only solution for those roll pins. Bigger hammer sometimes helps.

I just bought the ice cream maker attachment and the metal collar on the beater shaft is stopping me from attaching the ice cream maker driver. How do I remove the metal collar from the beater shaft?

You need a small steel hammer and a pin punch. Do not try to drive
out the Groove Pin any other way (i.e. don't force it out with a regular
size hammer and a screwdriver), you will only damage the Planetary plate
and/or the Agitator shaft. Lay your mixer down on the floor and support
the Beater shaft with a wooden block before driving the Groove Pin out.

Drive it out with a punch and hammer. It's best to take the planetary off the machine so you can support the shaft. If not it puts a lot of unnecessary stress on the bearings and other parts.

Hammer and punch. Best to remove planetary so you can support the shaft. If not it puts a lot of unnecessary stress on the bearing and other parts.

Trying to fix my KA mixer, and cannot get the planetary housing o

A screwdriver is for turning screws. What you need is a drift pin slightly smaller than the diameter if the pin you are trying to remove. If you can back the shaft up with something heavy like a hammer head and then try to drive the pin out you will be successful. They are pressed in with a light press fit and should yield to the above technique.

Planetary ring

ok im going to take a shot at this its been a while since ive been in a school kitchen
with the planetary ring its supposed to be tapped in make a jig by getting a 2x6 board and 2 2x4s they dont have to be long screw the boards together with the 2 2x4 standing 4 inch up across from each other about the size of the blender head
the wood is to support mixer while on its head and to keep from teetering around
put down down a piece of foam
put the mixer on its head upside down
now you have to find an old plastic sturdy made cup the size of the ring its gotta be able to take a beating (the cup)
but not a hard beating this will help in seating the panetary ring
now get another piece of foam
glue to top of cup let dry then trim around the cup evenly out side and on the inside leave a little foam over the inside edge
place ring on planetary drive where it goes put cup over ring make sure the cup matches size of ring
now get a wood rubber or small pin hammer and tap lightly on the cup till the ring sits itself back into position this is the safest way to place the ring
use a little appliance greese on inside ring lightly to help ease into place

now if any part of the ring is bent i dont recommend placing of old ring i would suggest buying a new ring for mixer
