1) A circuit breaker will not reset if breaker is hot, or if there is a short to ground.

2) Hot breaker: If circuit is pulling more amps than the breaker rating, or if breaker is loose on the busbar, then breaker gets hot, and trips.
3) Volts x amps = watts. Add up wattage of everything on breaker and divide by 120Volts and that gives you amps.
If your breaker is 15 amps, the SAFE maximum is 80% or 12 amps.

4) If breaker is loose, you can smell burning and hear crackling sound. Jiggle the breaker around and listen for crackling.

5) If there was a short somewhere on the breaker circuit, the breaker will trip.
When you unpluged each device and then the breaker was reset, then that says problem is probably NOT the wiring or breaker.
The problem was probably inside one of the devices that was plugged in.

6) If breaker trips again, unplug each device one at a time, and then try to reset breaker after each unplug to see if you can isolate suspected device.

The reason why the breaker stays tripped is a result of a direct short. Unplug every electrical device plugged into an outlet in both rooms and try the breaker. If it stays on, individually start plugging in each device until the breaker trips, that is the defective device. If the breaker stays tripped, start checking wall outlets for short circuits with an ohm meter. If you did not find a short, check your hard wired lamps and appliances for shorts. If you did not find any shorts the only other problem is a shorted pair of wires in the wall or ceiling. You will need to disconnect any hard wired lamps and appliances and check for shorts between individual pairs of hot (black) and neutral (white) then hot and ground. I have a short circuit finder, but you do not need one because the technology is not perfect and you may have to manually check for shorts with a meter anyway which never lies.

Our Wii was plugged in last night, this morning there is no power, we have unplugged everything and replugged back in, still no power. What do I do?

Hi there,
How long did you unplug the Wii from the power supply? As to reset the power adapter it needs to be unplugged from the power for a full 2 minutes before plugging it back in and trying to power up the Wii. (This resets the circuit breaker in the Wii power supply)
Cheers

APC ES-350 won't turn on; all I see is a blinking light.

Try looking for a small circuit breaker on the side that says "press to reset" - you could have tripped it accidentally when you unplugged the iPod.  Also, try pressing and holding the UPS power switch for 10-15 seconds.  That should force a power on as well.

Will not stay "ON"

that clicking is probably arcing from a loose wire somewhere like on a outlet or the hot wire is touching a ground ( metal) somewhere.. you have to disconnect every light and outlet that the fuse is on and one by one reconnect them to find the culprit...Also it is possible for the breaker itself to be bad

Storm last night, now Wii won't power up

Unplug everything! There is a "breaker" in the power supply and it may need to be reset. Just unplug all cables from the TV and outlets. Let it sit for a couple hours then plug everything back in and it should work fine. If not then the power supply has shorted out due to a strong power surge. You can claim it under your home owners insurance or call Nintendo and try to get it replaced. Thanks! Good luck and happy gaming!!
