Question about Denon DN-S3000 Turntable

Open Question

So i am planing to buy Denon DN-S3000 but the seller said that there is a slight whining sound when the platter is moved by hand. What could the problem be? He says it might be the belt but i want to be sure before i buy it.

SOURCE: platter turns slow

This turntable design has a direct drive system instead of belt drive (two types). If this unit has been in storage for some time, it has most likely been at hot or cold tempuratures - not good for any electronic/mechanical system.
My guess is that the direct drive motor needs to be rebuilt - internal friction is probably keeping it from operating at proper speed. Best to consult with a repair shop that can handle direct drive turntables - several on the internet, if you cannot find one locally.

BTW: You can find a manual for this at : http://www.vinylengine.com/library/denon/dp-45f.shtml

Best regards,
Andre

Try changing the platter speed from 33rpm to 45 rpm The menu for this should be in the preset section on the player.... Good Luck

Does not turn on - could be power supply problem - external cable and fuse okay - how do I open case to look inside?? (qualified electrician and stage systems specialist)

screws on side come off and you must remove the 4 screws on the front and remove the CD drive. I think there are a couple on the back. pretty easy to get lid off.

Platter quit spinning

Sounds like the motor drive controller might be malfunctioning. An authorized Denon service center would have to take a look at it to make sure.
