Question about Admiral AW22 Top Load Washer

Admiral Washer not spinning

Sir,
Seems like you have helped a lot of people with success. I have Admiral lg capacity, 22 lb, washer that is Not draining the water and is not spinning. It was fine until I activated the extra rinse cycle. Now when I turn it on, there is just a humming sound and no action. I guess it is stuck somewhere in the cycle.
Secondly, I can move the agitator freelly counter clockwise. When the machine is turned on however, it moves clockwise, gets stuck and the hums. It requires quite a bit of force to disengage and to free it up to move anticlockwise again.
Model # on this one is LNC6761A71. Although it does not say AW22 anywhere, tis is the only choice I am given here. It says designer series, giant capacity. It is a top load and does NOT have a belt driven system. Thanks in advance.

I have the same problem... is it worth trying to fix or should I just replace?

I have the same Admiral model LNC6764A71, top load, large capacity washer.
I am experiencing problems with the spin cycle, too..the water drains, but the clothes are still too wet. I checked various cycles...the agitator works, water fills and drains. But during the spin cycle, though something is spinning (sounds as if working normally)...it's not the inner tub (which contains the clothing) spinning. The belt looks to be in good condition, as well.
How do I check for correct belt tension or whether inner tub is connected correctly?

Yes I have the same problem - none of the spin cycles work and water remains in the tub.

I have an Admiral 20 lb. capacity heavy duty washer, not sure what model. Machine fills up with water but does nothing aftet that, all controlls seem to work fine. Before this issue it would rinse and in...

There should be a module that does the agitation bit for the washer motor(Spins one way shuts off and reverses the spin etc) There may be a capacitor under the control panel that is not working any more so the motor will not start.

Sometimes does not spin enough to wring out water from clothes.

The spin cycle should be on a timer, and shouldn't be able to change how long it spins. The same timer that controls all the cycles of your washer.Your pump may be trying to go out,and isn't removing the water fast enough. This will keep water in the tub,and the normal spin cycle isn't long enough to let the pump get the job done.Another problem might be a clog in your drain hose.Another problem could be the drain hose is set to high above the pump, and the pump can't push it up that high (shouldn't be a problem if you are using the hose that came with the washer, and not extending it with another hose or something.)

Won't agitate

Ours did this and it was because the bearings had busted. I called a local repair guy and he told me over the phone just by listening to the sound. Maybe you could do the same. I do know this, if it is your bearings, buy a new washer. It's not worth the repair...trust me.

Admiral Designer Series Super Capacity Washing Machine

This machine will rotate the motor to agitate in one direction and then reverse to activate the pump and the clutch for spin. I would remove the inspection plate and watch the motor and pump in action in both wash and spin, go to www.apdepot.com and dig around you will find parts and a wire schematic on this machine.

remove the front panel and check the securing springs at the bottom, probably one has snapped, replace the set.
Check for dust - evidence that the snubber washer has worn also
