I have a panasonic dvd rcorder / video combi model DMR-EZ49VEB. I have recorded something on DVD, which is 4 hours in duration, and I want to edit the recording and split it into parts. I follow the manual, but when I press EDIT the option to split isnt even there? I am confused, it is SUCH a difficult manual to deciphre, but the only 2 options there are "Edit title name" and "Change Thumbnail". The others are not listed. the disc is not copy protected or locked and is of sufficient duration to split the contents. HELP PLEASE :(

How do i get vcr to work with tv

The connection would be ideally a SCART cable or a phono AV cable ( red, white, yellow) which are you using? Then turn on TV, then turn on VHS, if the VHS does not show on screen, press the AV/Mode button on remote until VHS on screen!

First of all you have to connect only one SCART cable ( one end to TV and the other to DMR ).When you are watching a program on TV select the DMR source ( input selector ) to SCART. Just press the record button with a blank DVD inside and it will record. Some Digital broadcast might have copy protect content which will prevent the recording from happening.

Similar problem as you helped me solve before.

OK, I think I see the problem there.
The aerial lead from the DVDR to TV should be removed.
You should have it setup the same as the other Freeview - VCR - TV
Nutshell time:
Main aerial to Freeview input.
Loop aerial from freeview output to DVDR areial input (all this does is allow you to watch freeview, or standard both out of the DVDR)
So..
Scart from Freeview to DVDR input
Scart from DVDR output to TV
Set DVDR to AV input mode.
Set TV to AV (whatever number you need for that..you now won't get anything on screen unless you have the right input selected)

If you can now see the Freeview picture on the TV and change the channels with the Freeview remote then you should be set for recording.

Having the aerial and a scart lead both going to the TV is not needed.

If you select the HDMI channel to watch a dvd does it do it then, if not disconnect both ends of the scart lead and reconnect or replace. If the scart lead is not in properly this could happen, when you switch on the player and play a disc your tv will automatically switch to the AV/Scart channel, but you are better off manually turning the TV over to the HDMI Hi-Def channel for DVD.

Watching digital tv using a Panasonic DMR-EZ47VEB

PLEASE NOTE THIS INFORMATION COVERS PROBLEMS FOR ALL DEVICES CONNECTED UP BY STUPID scart LEADS. I HOPE IT HELPS EVERYONE.

This is a common problem, the problem is caused by the fact your device is connected to the TV via a scart lead. The way it works is this: If you press the AV button on your TV remote your TV will turn over to the first scart channel. If you actively do something on the device connected via scart in this case the dvd player, (this includes things like playing a DVD or Video, or going into a menu), the device sends a signal down pin 8 of the scart lead and turns the TV over automatically to the AV channel, BUT as soon as you come out of the menu or stop the DVD/Video the signal stops and the TV will revert back to the channel it was on.
So you have 3 choices......maybe 4...
1. press the AV button on your TV remote directly.
2. Buy yourself and HDMI lead IF your TV supports it (note: you will have to select the HDMI channel on your TV remote because the auto thing is only on scart leads).
3. ONLY DO THIS IF YOU HAVE A SPARE LEAD look up a diagram of a scart lead on Google so you can find pin 8 and cut it out with a pair of wire cutters. YOU will have to still press the AV button on your TV remote to go to the channel though,
4. Connect your TV and DVD with an aerial lead and tune channel 6 on your TV into the DVD player. ps then disconnect the scart lead.
(Go for choice number one!)
