Windows 8 will immediately boot to its typical lock screen. Sign into Windows 8 as you normally would - everything will look the same, except Windows will no longer demand driver signatures until you next reboot.
You can now install unsigned drivers as you would on previous versions of Windows. Windows will alert you if you try to install a driver that isn't properly signed, but you'll see an "install this driver software anyway" option you can choose.

Reboot When you're done installing the unsigned drivers, reboot your computer. Windows will keep using any unsigned drivers you've already loaded, even as it enforces signature requirements for new drivers.

Which operating system you are using??

You can follow the given steps to avoid blue screen error..
Start Windows in Safe Mode:

Step2: From Advanced Boot Options screen, choose Safe Mode option then press Enter.

Step2: From Advanced Boot Options screen, select "Repair Your Computer" and hit Enter. Choose your preferred keyboard layout and then click "Next."

Dell Inspiron 1440 notebook failed to start windows

You probably have a mbr virus. Try this:

Download The following iso listed below. It is the latest version of the Kaspersky rescue disk. You need to burn it to a CD with a program like Imgburn (Which is also FREE like the iso file). Then you need to boot from the CD and run the scanner. It should fix you right up.

Kaspersky rescue cd download:

Hi everyone, I'm having the same problem too.. Everytime I start my laptop, It show these two option: Startup repair or Start Windows normally. I "Start Windows normally" and then it comes...

Hi.

It looks like your going to have to perform a full system recovery as you are not getting anywhere with start-up repair or safe mode.

For a full system restoration, press the F11 key during bootup and then select "Recover PC" from the menu.

Regards.

Everything was fine then computer froze so I manually shut it down. Now I hear and see the computer boot-up with the Windows Insignia & Gateway logo and the mouse pointer but then it's black, except...

Restart the computer and press F8 key after you hear a beep or before it gives you the Windows logo on Startup. It will give you then the Advanced Startup Options.

You could try the option 'Last Known Good Configuration'.

You may also try Safe Mode option and do a System Restore. On Safe Mode, System Restore will automatically loads up at startup. You can then choose the date and time where you had it last working before.

If those can't be done, you may want to run scan file checker and fix system errors for you. Do this from Start> All Programs> Accessories> right click on Command Prompt. Then select Run as Administrator.

On the Command Prompt, enter sfc /scannow

That will automatically repair system files. However, it may ask for Windows Setup CD.

Windows fails to start and startup repair does not work.

Your startup repair option in Windows Install indicates a hardware conflict. Go to your System Setup in startup mode, by pressing Del, F2 or F10 whichever the hint is on screen during bootup. Once inside system setup, turn off almost everything, disable Speed Stepping in EPower, set monitor off to disable, Standby and Hibernation off as well. Turn off the modem and Network adapter if yo can. Just about everything that affects a device on the laptop. This would also include the Touch Pad if you're using a mouse.

And, in the long run, you may need to do a full Windows Install if the repair option continues to fail. Many of these failures are due to the Virtual Memory file size for Drive C being too low. If you can get into Safe Mode change this setting, right click My Computer, select Properties, go to Advanced, advance and change Virtual Memory on C to a fixed size about 1024Meg for min and max.

Also, should you be low on free space for drive C this could cause the same problem. You would have to choose a Full Install as an Option unfortunately.

In the absence of anything along these lines working, you should be able to choose Restore Acer option (or words to this affect), you would want to tap on F8 while booting, sometimes its F10, but this gives you a 'boot from what source' option, CDROM, Hard Drive or Restore Partition. Choose the Restore Partition and start over from scratch again.

Sorry, but this often happens and you and I have to live with this.

If you need any clarifications on what I've just stated, use the Comment Box Text Entry box below to send me a message. I'll get an email alert and will get back to you as soon as I can.

Regards,
Worldvet

This is not too uncommon scorcher63.
From what you stated, when windows does start it only goes so far & than re-starts it's self, like loading in a loop. Than at times it loads the start up options.
For reasons unknown, your windows (startup files) are corrupted. Easyest way to fix this is. Put you windows CD in the cdrom, shut down the system. Start the PC & press the F8 key every 2 seconds. A boot menue will load. Use the up & down arror keys & choose the cdrom drive. You will see (to boot from cd press any key), press the space bar. The cdrom will startup. Windows will start to load. You want to repair windows. This option will re-install windows but will leave most of your personal data alone. Like My Documents your username. Some programs "may" need to be re-installed. After installation is complete remove the windows cd & shut off the PC. Start the Pc, windows should load. Run Windows Update. If you have a antivirus program please do a full system scan. Run windows Defrag program.
scorcher63, if you have more question just post them here.
