When you boot up to the log in screen type in administrator to log in once you have your computer running again you have to take control (administrator)control panel user accounts on the users tab, click the name of the computer administrator you can change the password there or if your computer has a system restore you can restore it to an earlier date which will have your personal settings

hope this helps

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

Is it possible to connect an old IBM laptop 240X thinkpad to wireless internet

Yes but you need to install a PCMCIA wireless card and the wireless card driver.
There are several makes on the market, such as Netgear, D-link etc.
I suggest you Google search the Internet for PCMCIA wireless cards and select one that suits your requirements.

IBM thinkpad T41 -> get

Hi,

The IBM Thinkpad has a very strong security system.

If you are seeing a lock symbol when booting then somebody has set the supervisor password. If you can't remember it or guess it (try "password", "admin", "pass", etc) then you need to find the person that set the supervisor password.

Once the supervisor password is set the T41 is very well protected and it can't be reset by removing the laptop battery or CMOS battery.

There is a way to read the password from the protection chip but this is very complicated and requires taking the laptop apart and building your own chip reader.

The instructions for doing this are are:

Hope this helps,

Chris

How can I open my laptop IBM thinkpad 240 because i want to clean the memory of my laptop.

you sound like you want to "clean" the hard drive. Just reinstall the CD's that came with the PC. This will install a FRESH copy but make sure you have anything you want backed up first.

Accidentally delete the ntldr file and now the computer does not boot -my computer-(ibm thinkpad 2609) does ot have any cd or floppy drives abd i dont have my windows xp installation cd

You'll need a XP cd or another PC so you can make a copy and transfer that file to the ThinkPad. If that's possible, let me know and I'll tell you where it needs to be relocated on the ThinkPad.

Forget BIOS Password (Laptop - IBM Thinkpad Lenovo R60)

For that you need to reset factory defaults settings for bios.
For reset bios u have to open back side of your laptop then u find motherbord circuit there.
pull cmos cell on motherbord for 15 minute then it reset to defaults.
Also u can reset with jumper settigns read carefully on mother bord there is 1 jumper near cmos cell u read there " bios reset or clear"
It is on 1-2 position right now set it in 2-3 position then power up then all bios settings are reset.
then again set it in 1-2 its original position.

That lock symbol means it is asking for a system password and unless you know the password it will not let you in.
