Question about Sony Cyber-shot DSC-N1 Digital Camera

1 Answer

Sony DSC-N1 "capturing". I take pictures and after I hit the button I get a message "capturing" then "processing". This ties up th screen for a while and then comes back on, trying to retrieve the pics, I get nothing but a white image from the memory card.

Capturing- means that the image is being registered in the CCD-
Processing means - the processor is dealing with the capture.
Both should take but a scond or so.
If it takes longer and the result is No image.
Then it is iether a cared fault or camera failure
Which?
Try another card is the best thing to do
Take it to a shop and let them have ago rather thasn buy a new card only to find the camera has died,

I SEE the green light when I turn on the camera but LCD screen of Sony DSC-F505V is dark black, nothing happens-total silence and cannot take any pictures. Did I loose my camera? Solution?

Hi,

Based on the information provided it seems that the issue may be with the LCD Screen. You can check if the Camera is working by capturing images and inserting the Memory Stick in the Computer Memory Card slot. If the image capturing is normal then the images can be saved to the Computer. If the images are not getting captured, then the issue may be with the Camera. We can try power resetting the Camera to resolve the issue.
Turn off the Camera.
Remove the battery pack.
Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds.
Then, allow the Camera to remain without power for 60 seconds.
If the issue persists after resetting, then service may be required to identify the exact cause.

Thanks for using FixYa.

I have a sony cybershot DSC-P200. I am having problems with the flash. Sometimes it works and sometimes it goes off but the picture is black or only partially lit. Can you help?

HI,

I suggest you to set the Flash to Forced Flash ON by pressing the UP ARROW button on the Camera while capturing the images. This will enable the flash settings in the Camera to ON which will help you to capture all the images with the flash on.

Good Luck!!

I have taken photos on my sony cyber shot DSC-N1. There is one photo I want to convert to Black and White and thought I could do that on the camera itself but I have gone through the menu and cant find...

You can set the camera up to capture images in black and white, or more accurately, monochrome (always a bad idea) but your camera cannot convert a colour image into monochrome after capturing it in colour. I'm unaware of any cameras able to do so as it just takes too much processing power.

By far the best way is to always capture the image in colour and to then use pc/Mac software afterwards to convert. The recorded colour information is of great use in giving added tonal depth to a monochrome image and can be used to simulate the effects of using the coloured filters which monochrome photography relies on to alter image contrast.

The camera is 8.1 Mega Pixels, Model # DSC-N1. The problem: the pictures that come out are reddish and the snapshot is delayed by a few seconds whereby the camera displays "capturing" and then "processing"...

It sounds like you may have changed the white balance setting. The other problem could be that your memory card is getting full or needs to be reformatted.

Don't throw your Sony Cyber-Shot camera away!

We found a website who has created an entire comprehensive photo instructions for the Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-H Series Shutter Button Installation.

They also have the Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-H9 Shutter Button Installation Instructions as well!

Please note that we STRONGLY recommend using a flash discharger. This is for your safety and also for your camera's safety.

Hope this helps to get your camera working and start capturing memories again!

Capturing mode

Probably you are using the M mode or manual mode for taking the pictures. this shouldn't happen in Auto mode. The exposure time is set to maximum and the camera behaves as it shoot during the completely dark environment - trying to stay "open" to absorb as much light as it needed for the picture. If you are trying it during the night you will be more satisfied with the result - 30 seconds of "capturing" on the screen, a tripod and you are goimg to have exellent night shot. I had the same problem, just because I haven'got read the manual for the camera first. My advise is to check in the manual what is written for the "M" mode. Hope that I help.
