Monitor is not getting a signal from the computer. Ensure the cable connections are correct. If the monitor has a input select option, ensure it is set for the cable option selected.
If tower is a Dell, ensure the power LED on the Tower is Green/Blue If flashing Amber, power supply may have failed, solid amber, motherboard or a device connected to it may have failed.

Most Dell LCDs have multiple inputs and they will go into "standby" while waiting for a signal from your PC. This happens when your PC goes into "sleep" mode or if you are sure your PC is not in "sleep" mode then usually the LCD is not in the correct input selection. Check the input selection for the appropriate input. As always, make sure the cables are securely connected. Hope this helps.

I have my acer p205h 20 inch monitor hooked up to my tobshiba laptop and it works great except it will not go into sleep mode when laptop goes into sleep mode the monitor goes to there is not signal check...

Unfortunately, this is a standard problem, as when your laptop goes into sleep mode, it shuts off power to the secondary monitor, without giving it the signal to go into sleep mode. You could try digging around your settings, but most likely you'll just need to turn off the monitor when you're not using it.

When I turn on the monitor, I get an error message: "Warning PC entering power saving mode", then it turns off.

Unplug your dekstop from the electricity then press and hold the power button on your desktop for couple minutes with out no power cable attached to it then let go of the power button then connect your desktop back to electrical outlet and press power button once that should give you display once it turns back on you can go into your power saving options and turn off power saver mode as its conflicting with your LCD sometimes this can occur if you have Norton antivirus installed
if after doing the power drain and still get same message then you can try using a different monitor if you have one for a test.
this issue is not with your monitor but with the PC has been stuck in sleep mode but the power drain should solve your problem.

After pc gets turned on it goes into sleep mode with no response.. need troubleshooting help.

Hello ahmid7 …

There are three potential areas for your solution (listed in descending order of probability).

1. Power Options

Are you familiar with Windows' "Power Options" control panel module? If in fact your system is going into sleep/stand-by/hibernate mode, this will be the most probable culprit, and you won't need to proceed to steps 2,3. With it you can tweak all things related to power saving (e.g., sleep, stand-by, hibernate, timed automatic MONITOR and/or hard-drive shut off, etc.). Just make your desired (re)adjustments there.

[Control Panel > Power Options]
... OR ...
Start > Run > type "powercfg.cpl" (without quotes), then hit Enter.

Once it launches, you'll probably find most everything self-explanatory. If not:
  • Search for "Power Options" in your Windows "Help and Support". Then review "…Common Tasks…" and/or "…Overview…" related items.
  • Post here again and I'll be glad to walk you thru it.
2. Monitor's OSD (On Screen Display / Setup)

If step 1 is unsuccessful, it may only be the monitor (CRT/screen/display) itself that is turning off. Somewhere on the monitor there will be an OSD (On Screen Display / Setup) button/switch of some type. There you may be able to make the needed adjustment. If necessary, refer to the monitor's documentation (i.e., User's Manual, etc.) for further details.

3. System BIOS

If steps 1+2 are unsuccessful, it may be your computer system's BIOS accommodates auto/timed shutoff of your monitor, hard-drive(s), motherboard. If necessary, refer to your computer system/BIOS documentation (i.e., User's Manual, etc.) for further details on how to adjust.

IMPORTANT NOTE:

If none of the above provides solution, please report this, because it may be that your system is NOT in fact going into what you perceive as a sleep type mode, but rather is experiencing an emergency shutdown. In this case there are a couple of most likely causes. However, there's no need to cross that bridge unless it actually exists.

Good luck, and thanks in advance for posting back ...

Does samsung monitor save power in sleep mode?Or will it just displays black all over the monitor?

yes, all monitors work directly with the cpu, the cpu sends message to the monitor, so if the system is in sleep mode, automatically the monitor stops work excepts the cpu comes up again then the monitor wakes, in a nutshell, a monitor is connected to power while in sleep mode but has no signal to function
