SOURCE: cant get my viera linked panasonic to play through surround sound

My problem was that I could get some (most) channels coming through the home theatre system, except a few. The solution was a little strange. In Audio setup I changed SPDIF from Auto to PCM. I scanned the manual and couldn't really find a reference to either of these, but googling I worked out that it had something to do with converting analog signals to digital. Not sure why the Auto setting didn't work. I hope this fixes things for someone!Craig

Samsung LED UE46B7020 tv wont play sound through my HT-C5500

i know this is going to sound stupid but i couldn't get mine to work either after following every instruction to the T. I then rechecked my optical digital connections again and found that I neglected to remove one on the rubber protective endings. I took it off and plugged the end back into my TV and BINGO! THEATER SOUND from my tv!

I just bought a Yamaha 5.1 system with rcvr RX-V365 i have HDMI to tv then HDMI to RCVR then another HDMI to DTV. Problem cant seem to get picture AND sound together through RCVR. depending on what setting...

RX-V365 doesn't support sound over HDMI. It can switch the video+audio from HDMI in to HDMI out, but can't play the sound through the speakers. You need to connect the audio separately via optical or coax digital cable.

My Samsung TV picture is supplied via a HDMI lead

yes you need to connect audio out from the tv to audio in on the dvd surround. you need the red/white phono to phono leads, simply connect together and select audio (av,au) on the input selection.

What cables do i need to connect my ps3 to my sony recevier.

do you wan the suround sound to play sound for what the tv is displaying or just the ps3

for just ps3

connect hdmi to ps3 and tv
connect optical to ps3 and suround sound
change video settings to hdmi
change sound settings to optical
it asks to set settings automatically you have tyo doo it manually

if you want to play every thing that tv displays then
connect ps3 to tv with hdmi
connect suround sound with hdmi to tv
(this might not work)
if it dont work then

connect ps3 to tv with hdmi
and your tv should have sound out or something along those lines it should be two phono plugs in the back of the tv connect that to the suround sound

LG HT 503PH Hi-Fi Surround Sound only come with one black lead that fits into the TV but nowhere to fit into the DVD system

You need to get an optical cable (not supplied with the system of course!). Will cost about £20. That will fit from the sound system to the TV to give you 5.1 surround (else you're stuck with stereo) and THEN you need HDMI from your DVD to the TV... presuming that's the way you're going. Else it's whatever you output from DVD to the TV and then the TV sees you have optical out and pushes the sound to the 5.1 system.
