Door gasket is black looks moldy?

Good Afternoon Friend,

I see that the door gasket on your Frigidaire Affinity washer, model# ATF7000ES, is black and looks moldy. It because the mildew is not just on the gasket, but it is in the tub and in the pump and discharge hose as well. You need to reduce/eliminate the mildew in those parts. There are a couple of things you should do to reduce the causes of mildew.

1. Run the machine once a month, using liquid bleach, on the clean-tub cycle to clean out the machine. You might need to repeat this a few times to completely clean out your machine.

2. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for the about and type of laundry detergent to use with your wash. Using too much detergent causes a buildup of detergent on the tub which encourages mildew growth.

3. After your final wash of the day, leave the door and laundry detergent open, wipe dry the gasket with a cloth.

I ask that you please follow up with a comment on the post, at your convenience, to advise if further troubleshooting is needed or if your refrigerator status has changed successfully.

-Best Regards-

Machine flooding from door during cycle

More than likely, you have a problem with the door gasket.
Check to see that the gasket is complete and not broken or warn.
Close a dollar bill in the washer door if you can, then see if you can pull the dollar out with a little effort. Try this all around the door.
If it comes out too easily your gasket should probably be replaced.

How to replace door gasket for GE WCVH6800J0mr

The front panel needs to be removed in order to replace the door gasket. This requires the removal of the top panel, control panel, service panel. Disconnect power to the machine before attempting any repair works.

Remove the 3 Phillips-head screws that attach the top cover then pull the cover rearward. It may be helpful to place a putty knife along the top seam between the cover and control panel then lightly tap it rearward. Remove the 3 hex-head screws that attach the rear of the top panel to the cabinet then slide the top panel rearward and lift the panel.

Remove the 3 Phillips-head screws that hold the service panel to the cabinet then pull the service panel down and off the cabinet.

Pull the dispenser out to the stop position then press down on the locking tab.

Pull the dispenser out completely then remove the single Phillips-head screw from the control panel dispenser recess.

Remove the 4 Phillips-head screws that attach the top of the control panel to the control panel cover.

Lift and push forward on the control panel from inside the cabinet to release the bottom tab from the front bracket.

Lift the top edge of the panel to disengage the 3 tabs that hold the top of the panel in place.

Push the control panel towards the left then release the side tab. Disconnect the wire harnesses from the control panel then set the panel aside. It is recommended to take note of the connections before disconnecting to prevent messing them up upon reconnection.

Open the door then remove the 3 Phillips-head screws that hold the door lock to the front panel and remove the spring and wire from the gasket.

Use a pair of long-nose pliers to grasp the wire hoop at the spring location and expand it to clear the door gasket and remove the spring and wire hoop.

Peel the door gasket off the outer lip of the front panel door opening then position it behind the front panel. Close the door and remove the 4 Phillips-head screws that attach the front panel to the cabinet. Lift up then remove the front panel from the hooks.

Once the front panel is off, pull down and disengage the gasket from the nozzle.

Ensure that the washer is placed on the outside and that the nozzle is aligned with the indent on the inside of the gasket when reinstalling.

Disengage the gasket from the water inlet pipe and loosen the 7-mm bolt that holds the wire and bolt assembly to the outer tub lip. Remove the wire and bolt assembly from the gasket then pull the gasket off the outer tub lip.

Install the tub gasket on the outer tub aligning the notch in the gasket with the arrow located on the top of the outer tub lip before tightening the wire and bolt assembly.

When reinstalling the wire and bolt, tighten it to a gap of approximately 11/4 inches. Do not over-tighten it to avoid tearing up the gasket.

Position the door gasket inside the drum then secure the front panel back into the cabinet. Put the door gasket over the outer lip of the front panel door opening then secure it with the spring and wire hoop assembly. Start at the top then work around the gasket on both sides simultaneously until the gasket is completely secured.

Reinstall the service panel, control panel, and the top panel to complete the procedure.

My Whirlpool Duet washer will not start. I keep getting a "dl" and an "f" signal. I assume it means door lock failure. I've tried unplugging and opening and shutting the door before restarting but it won't...

It is indeed a door lock failure. Replace the door lock/latch assembly (part number 8181700) to solve the problem.

Disconnect power to the washer and open the door. Remove the door gasket retaining hoop by stretching apart the retaining spring at the bottom of the door opening.

Gently peel the part of the door gasket near the door lock/latch assembly off the lip of the right side of the door opening. Remove enough of the door gasket to access the door lock/latch assembly behind the front panel.

Remove the three screws securing the door lock/latch assembly to the front panel and slightly lift it then pull it back off the front panel.

Pull the door lock/latch assembly out of the washer and disconnect the wiring harness.

Connect the wiring harness to the new door lock/latch assembly and install it back in place behind the front panel.

Secure the door lock/latch assembly and put the eased part of the door gasket back into position over the lip of the door opening.

Check that the door gasket is properly seated before putting back and securing the retaining hoop around the lip of the door opening and the door gasket.

The loading door gasket-- the big rubber liner doesn't drain

Some front loaders have a door boot drain hole, most do not and it is normal for some water to accumulate at bottom of boot. To help with mold and mildew use a washing machine cleaning solution, follow directions. Also a bleach solution of 2 parts water 1 part bleach sprayed on area helps. If mildew is really bad, nothing will completly remove it. Make sure you use only a high efficiency detergent.

What does dE flashing on the LG intellowasher WD1050FHB mean?

It is an indication of door error. The door is either not shutting, locking or opening.
  1. Turn off the unit and unplug it for 5 minutes then replug and turn it on. If the problem persists, proceed below.
  2. Check the door latch
  3. Check if there is something that is caught in the door and prevent it to shut properly.Remove any stuck items that might push the door latch up or down during operation.
  4. Check if the door or gasket is damaged. Damaged door or gasket will prevent the door from latching or locking properly. Replace damaged gasket. Dis-aligned door prevents the door latch to lock properly.
  5. Check the door latch for any damage. Replace if defective.
