Question about Kd Tools Macpherson Strut Spring Compressor

1 Answer

I have a 2001 ford taurus. replaced CV joint and ball joint on right front two weeks ago. Started to hear clucking noise two days ago. Had a second party look and listen, seems strut has gone out, right side. So, have strut and compressed spring kit, but problem. With spring kit fully compressed, still too much pressure from spring, half a coil is still touching the top plate and will not release. Used compressing kit with 180 degrees and started as high up on exposed coil as possible, but still no luck. Can not get top plate off with pressure on it. HELP. Car is in pieces and my only vehilce???

Clunk noise when turning

Check the cv shaft boots, if they are torn the grease inside will have come out and now the joints inside are worn out. Worn cv joints will cause noises when turning.

There is a clicking noise on the front left hand side,,somewhere behind the wheel, its been a yr since a steering rack has been put in,,and it started a few mths ago with the rain we have had,,,,,,,

Is it a clicking only while driving? Maybe more so when turning? If so then it could be a CV joint. The boots tend to tear on the outter joints and the grease slings out (sometimes seen on the fender). Then you hear the ball bearings rattle around in there. Its very ******* them and should be fixed ASAP. If it breaks because of loss of grease it could leave you stranded.

If this is the problem then the CV most times can be repacked and the boot replaced. But repacking with grease does not fix wear and tear. It is not much more work to replace the whole shaft and CV shafts with inner and out joints ready to go are fairly cheap now days.

"I hear and feel "Clucking noises when I drive me

If it is clucking then someone has hidden some chickens in your trunk, open it and let them out. If it is clunking then I would suspect rubber bushings on any of the several suspension components have reached the end of their life and metal is banging into metal as the suspension moves up and down.
You need to take it to an alignment shop and have them give you a list of what is worn out. Consider replacing those parts and getting it aligned. If the clunking is reserved only to times when you shift from D to R and back, then I would suspect U joints and CV joints in the axles. If it is reserved to times when you are turning, check the CV joints and wheel bearings. Everything on the car is 14 years old and each part will eventually fail from use and age.

When Im turning i can hear a clicking coming from the front side of my car what could it be?

check your CV joint boots. If the boot is torn then the CV joint is probably bad. replace the whole drive shaft instead of repairing just the outer CV joint.

Humming noise coming from left front tire, just started two days!

If the tires are wearing normal then its not the ball joint. If it worse while turning one way and quieter turning the other way it a wheel bearing. A ball joint does'nt make a constant noise.

Front wheel seems about to fall off

It sounds like the Bearings are out on that Wheel. You Could have caused damage to the Spindle in addition. Not a Cheap Fix by any Means. Check the Bearings and Spindle for Breakage.
