In Control panel. click on the sounds icon (speaker) and see if there is actually an audio device installed. If there is not, download the audio driver from the manufacturers website
If there IS a driver installed, check that you have not muted the sound (desktop speaker icon) or the FN + F keys on the laptop.

Tips for a great answer:
open skype go to tools from the drop down list select options scroll to video settings make sure the microphone is using the same as your computers audio you can make a free test call if you cant get the microphone to work you can select learn about setting up your audio equipment or control panel sounds and audio devices audio and also voice it's the same make sure that you have the right default microphone selected
