Re: Paper will not feed through machine
Brass screw is probably the chrome packing screw which normally sets in a hole near the front of the copier when you open the "**** shell" Paper pick up could need feed wheel. clean with fantastic or soap and water and see if it helps. Also on this model check your exposure lamp is it coming on, if not it may on flicker, On all these PC when the lamp goes bad the paper jams usually at turnaround. Good luck.

This seems to be fault in the transport of the paper in the rollers. So if you have used any adhesive sticker printing, it is possible that some glue has got clogged into the rollers. If not there can be some jammed paper in the rollers or the mechanism. So start this work only if you are mechanically able with the right tools. Remove the covers to get access to the mechanism . Remove the motor drive assembly , the fitting of the motor to the mechanism. Once this is removed the rollers can be turned manually so that you will be able to feed a paper to see the progress of the movement while studying if there is any obstruction or damage to the paper. There is a in-detect sensor, usually an opto-coupler , make sure this is not clogged or dirty as this IR detection feeds the signal to the processor for starting the motor drive feed. Reassemble but make sure the rollers are aligned to be in equal gap to feed the paper without a side pull. Now you must print and see if the fault has changed. If not repeat the above workto confirm the area of obstruction.
So it sounds like the machine is not feeding paper from the paper cassette. This is a common problem.
There are 2 possibilities. 1 easy and one a little tougher. The simple fix is cleaning the paper feed tires. Just pull out the paper cassette, then remove all the paper. You will see 2 felt type pads on the spring loaded metal plate. Spray these 2 pads with some glass cleaner. Dry the metal plate a little then lock the plate down and re-install the cassette without paper! Make sure the lower tray is selected for paper feeding and press the print button. The machine should try to feed a few times then shut down with a P in the display. Reset the P using the clear key then press print again. Repeat this procedure 5 or 6 times. Then remove the tray, dry the pads a bit then re-load the paper, re-install the tray and give it a try. If dirty feed rollers were the cause then this procedure will fix it. Let me know how this works out.
Thank You for using Fixya
On this machine, the feed rollers might be worn down.
Not seeing the machine and by the description. there can also be other possible problem areas, deep in the machine itself.
Does the paper feed partially out?
If it does not, are there paper black scuff marks where the rollers were trying to feed the paper.
Can you hear the solenoids feed the paper?
If the paper does feed and seems crooked, it is possible the paper tray springs need to be stretched out just a little to push the paper tray plate more on the feed rollers.
Make sure the tray is completely up in the latched position so the feed wheels will touch the paper stack itself.
If you have a two paper tray, make sure you tell the machine what size paper you have for each tray.
Run paper in each tray.
1. Try cleaning the paper feed rollers Instructions how to clean the paper feed rollers. If the paper feed rollers become dirty, they may not be able to properly feed paper due to the feed roller's slippage. If paper does not feed correctly, perform the following to clean the paper feed rollers:
Open the Printers folder.
- For Windows XP Home Edition : Click/Select 'Start,' 'Control Panel,' 'Printers and Other Hardware,' and 'Printers and Faxes.
- For Windows XP Professional Edition : Click 'Start' and 'Printers and Faxes.'
- For Windows Vista : Click 'Start,' 'Control Panel,' 'Hardware and Sound,' and 'Printers.'
- For Windows 2000 : Click/Select 'Start,' and 'Settings,' then 'Printers.'
Right-click the icon of the printer for paper feed roller cleaning, and select 'Properties' from the displayed list.
Click the 'Maintenance' tab and click 'Roller Cleaning'.
Remove all sheets of paper from the rear tray, then click 'OK'.
Confirm the message, and click 'OK'. Note: Clicking 'OK' will activate the paper feed rollers 30 times. This activation will take about 90 seconds. Do not perform other operations until this operation has finished.
Confirm the message, and click 'OK'.
After the continuous paper feeding operations in step 5 have finished, load three sheets of plain paper and click 'OK'.
Confirm the message, and click 'OK'.
Note: “Feed roller cleaning is completed” message is displayed when the paper is fed and ejected.
Sounds like it is misfeeding from the Default tray (just not getting the paper into the machine). try removing the paper from the default tray, and use another one. If it works, then the paper feed rollers are the likely cause.
If you did not get ALL the jammed sheet out, there is still a small piece of paper in there somewhere, probably covering a sensor or micro switch. Get a torch and look carefully. If you don't find anything you may need to disassemble the printer to find it.
I got that error turning off the machine in the middle of printing, opened the door to back, unlashed the 2 green tabs to the final heat roller towards the top and there was my page. i gently pulled it out error gone.
but in your case sounds like the paper is having a hard time feeding through all your rollers or the first one... in that case it has to torn down to the first roller and inspected for paper pieces , what ever, and I clean the rollers with laquer thinner rubbing hard on the black rubber until that high gloss is gone.
That is the problem, machine will show printer jam if paper feed rollers fail to pick up paper when requested, your machine sounds like it needs new paper feed roller or you can clean the paper feed roller with a slightly! damp cloth.
If no jam light shows when power is turn on and machine comes to ready and then you send a job to printer and it then shows jam then it is the feed roller or sometimes the feed clutch
If on the other hand it always show jam then there is or a switch is stuck.
