These are general focus settings. The tulip usually means "Macro" or extreme close up, and the two peaks is "Landscape" for distance shots. There should be a setting in between for taking foreground shots of people.

No setup screen/picture do ineed a digital converter? I think my tv is analog ifso where do I get one and about how mudh will it cost?

Your DVD1041 player, does not have a digital output. It is analog.
If your TV has a composite entry, or even an s-video entry, you can buy a cable.
When your TV has a scart entry you also can get a cable, but you need a plug from tulip to scart. And 3 tulip - tulip cables.

Or a cable with one end scary and other end tulip plugs. Best with a in / out switch on the scart plug.

Canon Camera Tulip symbol

That is the "Closeup" indicator. It means your camera is set to take close up or macro shots.

I have a Canon PowerShot A550 .. it was given to me. I don't have any instructions. Can you tell me which settings I should have it on? I have it on Auto and 'looks like a tulip'.. Whata do I do to...

Hi.

The Auto setting is useful for casual pictures. This camera has many different settings. Start using the presets, and then learn how to regulate exposure, white tones and other advanced settings.

Please read the Shooting chapter in the user manual from page 26. Click here to open the manual.

Regards.
