Question about Logitech X-140 Speaker

I am unable to activate my speakers - after accessing sounds via the control panel the volume control is greyed out. The speakers are correctly connected

So we're talking about a PC here, right?

Perhaps you could fill in some details as everything is software-controlled. Can you access your soundcard controls? It probably overrides the basic system stuff.

Have Koss hd-50 (hand me down) would like a diagram, have no sound, running winxp on dell xperion 8400, says "no active mixer devices"

Is there a built in microphone


Hello there is a mic on your pc on the front panel at the top if you want to check for access your volume properties by double clicking on the speaker icon in the task bar and check if the mic is not on mute or low volume alternatively access it through the control panel menu. If this does not work check that the sound driver is correctly loaded and working properly via right click my computer then select properties then select device manager and then check that the sound drivers is operating correctly if not the sound driver will possibly have to be reinstalled good luck

Sound not playing correctly via the speakers on the monitor Back ground music but no voice


sounds to me like you may have the monitor speakers connected to the wrong port. It typically connects to the computers Green speaker jack. If it is connected properly, look in the control panel for audio/ speaker properties, change the speaker configuration to stereo speakers, instead of 5.1 speakers. you are likely hearing the rear channel of 5 speaker setup at the moment.

or some of the files' of the drivers are not more accessible, try to reinstall soundcard drivers

can you access the "speaker" icon on lower right corner of the screen ?
If not can you access sound control from control panel ?

I just bought a laptop do they have speakers built in? and if so where is the volume control I have a acer travelmate 200dx thanks Anne


volume control is normally located on the bottom right hand corner beside the clock, just double click on the speaker icon and you should be able to adjust the volume.
