SOURCE: 4 beep error when scanning barcode

The four beep error is a communications error. Usually it indicates the scanne is not configured properly. If the scanner is connecting with the CBA-K01-S07PAR cable and you are using a PS/2 keyboard you should have scanned the IBM PC/AT barcode from Adobe page 56 of 342 of the LS2208 Product Reference Guide.

If you do not have a PS/2 keyboard attached and are using a USB to PS/2 adapter you should scan the IBM AT Notebook from that same page. If the scanner does not start working immediately you may have to reboot your system. If the scanner still does not work the CBA-U01-S07ZAR USB cable might be a better choice.

If you are not connecting with either of these cables and are still getting the four beep error a call to the Motorola support center may be in order. Their phone number is 800-653-5350.

SOURCE: What software can I purchase

Microsoft Excel can print bar-code labels. I did this for my office for our stock room and they work with every bar-code reader I've used so far.

Definition for prefixes

Hi,when related to a barcode i would say this means eg.<pre fix> barcode <post fix> its would really be called a <pre-embale> and <post-emble>.
this is a seting on the barcode read which adds certain events to the start of a barcode when its transmitted to the computer/terminal.
eg. imaginge i need the letter 'S' every time i scan a bar code then the transmitted code would look like <S>barcode<CR>, in this example i have added a common <post-amble> the Carrage Return.

VB With MC9090S

Hello,
If you are willing to use VB.NET, then it will be easy. You would need the Symbol EMDK. With that and VS2008 (Express should be fine as well), you only need few coding steps:

1) Add reference to dlls
Symbol.dll and Symbol.Barcode.Dll

2) Finder a scanner
s = Symbol.Barcode.Device.AvailableDevices.First()

3) make a reader
r = New Symbol.Barcode.Reader(s)

4) add data
d = New Symbol.Barcode.ReaderData(1, 1024)

5) enable laser
r.Actions.Enable()

6) enable reading
r.Actions.Read(nrd)

7) add handler
AddHandler r.ReadNotify, AddressOf r_ReadNotify

8) read data in event
msgbox(d.Text)

That is all there is too it. Good day.

DS6708 symbol scanner freezes keyboard

Have you tried taking the battery out of the scanner and then reinserting it? THis should reset the scanner to some degree.

It really depends which barcodes you scanned in the manual.

Your best chance seems to be a reset to the original settings, for which you may need to look at the manual.
