Need to save Honeymoon recording but HDRW 720 won't save archive disc. How can I salvage my recording?

I am assuming that the unit turned off while you were using it because of power failure... Battery low.
The file is still there but it is corrupt and you should be able to retrieve it at least 90% of it.

I don't mind taking a look at it for you. we do have the hardware software needed to do the task and it is no charge if we cannot get back the file.

I have a philips hdrw720 dvd recorder. i cant play recordings anymore and i get a letter "C" on the video screen.. anyone know how to fix this? thanks

There are three things you can do that will eventually give you a working solution. Depending on the level of problem. Start with 1 progress to 3 until it works.
1. Use a cleaning disc. (one that use an alcohol based liquid)
2. If the cleaning disc does not solve it, you can use an ear bud, with some iso-propyl alcohol to clean the DVD lens on the drive directly. (you have to open the player and the drive)
3. The guaranteed working solution is to replace the DVD drive inside the player. This is quite a simple process, as most players use a standard IDE DVD-ROM or DVD writer.
You simply remove the face plate, (apply power to the drive, and press eject first) the tray will open. Unclip the tray face, and then with the tray open you can unclip the plastic face plate too.
Remove the old drive, and fit the new drive by reversing the removal procedure.
Once everything is assembled you should be able to watch DVD's again. If you can't find a cheap DVD drive locally, try ebay.
I have done this on over 50 players for my clients in the past. I use LG DVD roms and DVD writers for the DVD recorders, irrespective of brand.
Let me know how it goes.

Philips DVD hard drive recorder HDRW720 locks up

Do you have a disc locked up inside?

I found that there IS a manual release for the disc tray UNDERNEATH the unit. It is a sort of toggle lever that you have to slide to the other side and that releases the disc. The Manual does not even mention this manual release lever!

Also, it may be hidden or covered by a paper like cover.

Cone of HDRW720 Hard Disk

In order to use this software you need motherboard with two IDE ports.
You have to use both primary IDE ports, HD must be single mode...
IDE1 Primary - Your HD
IDE1 Secondary - Don't use it
IDE2 Primary - Your HD
IDE2 Secondary - Don't use it
Because it was so long ago I don't remember exact details, and it takes time to reconfigure PC...
But if need help let me know, and I will get you step by step instructions...

HDRW720 will only do demo mode

The error code has a Nucleus Group and Number followed by an Error Code.
The Nucleus 2100 references
Check the communication between the digital board and the hard disk drive by querying the device type of the device type of the hard disk.
The Hard drive 282206200034 is no $399.80 available from which you can just drop in since it is formatted. If you can find a hard disk which is rare due to the small size no one buys, it can be formatted to just drop it in. You will need the hard drive ( 120GB ATA), the PC communication cable 312278590017 $22.75 and the Service DVD 312278590710 $36.96 which will allow you to format the hard disk for the unit. I would do this for you but you might have other problems with the system which can only be found with more diagnostics after the drive is installed. Or it could be a drop in and go.
For the unit which is stuck in trade (demo) mode,
Unplug the unit.
Simultaneously hold the Stop + Open close while plugging in the unit.

What do i need in order to record from my t.v. to the dvd player?

You can go to the manufacture's website and go to customer support or downloads, or if they have a search box, simply type in the model number and add manual to see if it appears (usually in a PDF file) or try the website that carries a lot of manuals. Again, in the search box, input your model number and manua for the appropriate PDF file.
