SOURCE: i need correct temperature readings

On most US ovens the high temp is 550f and the lowest is around 100f for warm. I would imagine 1 is warm and 5 is 550f so 2 would be 250 3 would be 325 4 would be 425. Or you could say ribs and slow cooking 2, cake 3, cornbread 4, and 5 would be broil. The only way to know is set each number and place an oven thermostat in there to see what the temp is fer each number. Personally my grand mother cooked on a wood stove and never had a knob, she just shoved the biscuits in the oven and added another stick of wood.

SOURCE: translate temp gauge numbers to degrees

I recommend you buy a cheap oven thermometer and check the oven temperature yourself. As a gasfitter I know temperature conversions (numbers to degrees) are approximate and I think may be done on purpose so consumers won't complain if they put a thermometer int he oven and it differs from the thermostat. Check the temperature in the centre of the oven. do not use pans and trays that fill the sheld as gas ovens need room to circulate the hot air. Also do not place items in the oven so the top of it is near the top of the oven - otherwise it will burn. I have found when cooking a chicken it needs to be turned otherwist the bottom of it may not be cooked.

SOURCE: model number for belling double

Like other kitchen appliances, your belling double oven contains a model number and serial number printed on a metal plate. The model number identifies the belling double oven. The same model number is found on any belling double oven in a specific line of ovens. The serial number is an individual alphanumeric number that, along with the model number, is required if you need to order parts or service for your belling double oven.

Instructions

  1. Locating the Model Number on the Model Number Plate
    • 1 Turn off the oven if it is on, and let it cool.
    • 2 Pull the broiler pan out of the bottom of the oven
    • 3 Lift up the front edge of the broiler pan. Lift up the rear of the pan, and pull the pan straight out.
    • 4 Use a flashlight to locate the metal plate on the body of the oven. The plate is under the space where the broiler pan was.
    • 5 Write down the model and serial number on a piece of paper for future reference.
    • 6 Reinstall the broiler pan by placing the pan onto the tracks and sliding the pan in.
Locating the Model Number in the Owner's Manual
    • 1 Locate the owner's manual for your Maytag gas oven.
    • 2 Look at the front cover of the manual. The model number is printed on the cover.
    • 3 Write down the model and serial number on a piece of paper for future reference.
    • 4 Store the owner's manual in a safe place.

Hope it helps,,..

Thanks for using fixya...
