The first thing you should try doing is checking Belkin for any upgrades for either Drivers or Firmware. I'd definitely reinstall the driver. I would also try switching usage between Windows having control over the adapter and Belkin's connectivity software.

I purchased a Belkin wireless router and adapter, they are installed but I can not connect to the internet without an ethernet cable.

Is the router "seeing" the adapter?
Does the software scan for networks and if so, does it "find" your network?

If your network connection is visible, you may need to check the router settings and contact your ISP for clarification. I owned a Belkin router and had this problem that re-occured every 3 months or so, necessitating resetting it. Tried firmware upgrades, changing adaptors etc without sucess. Eventually binned it
