The fact that there is a horizontal line on the screen tells you that all circuits are in operation except the vertical circuit , The virtical IC is probaly shorted or the reisitor that supplies voltage for the fly back is open in addition the negative feerback from the signal processor IC can be open also which can cause a horizantal line .You will have to check all dose circuits to seewhat is causing the line

there is also a case where the signal processor is not supplying the vertical drive to the vertical out put IC which can also cause a line in which case the Processor IC would have to be changed.Of course only an oscilliscope can conform that.

Horizontal line running on my GAO Panasonic

If the white line is in the middle of the screen and runs left to right the problem is in the vertical circuit of the set.

Either a bad part in that area or at the vertical output chip bad solder connections (most with this will react when set banged on side).

Note: leaving set on with only that line on screen will sooner or later burn that mark into the face of the screen--not fixable.

Our tv, a Panasonic # CT-36D11E/CT-36D11 only shows a horizontal thin line across the screen. The sound is fine - any ideas? Is it time to replace or could it be repaired cheaply?

Resolder the vertical IC and replace those capacitors near and next to your vertical IC. If the horizontal line still appears, you may have to replace the IC. Thanks for asking and be caredful!

Tv screen is black except for 1 horizontal line of color

The line is there because the vertical deflection unit - the one that spreads that line across the entire screen to form the image - has failed. Replacing it is a job for a professional, or at least an experienced amateur, and the parts will be quite difficult to find for such an old tv .

Goes to a single horizontal line unless you move or hit the tv

You seem to have bad solder joints on the vertical output i.c, that part will be mounted vertically on a heathsink and have 7 to 12 connectors soldered to the circuit. If you remove the cover and turn the tv on ,you can use something non conductive like a wooden salad spoon to knock around the circuit, this might help you locate the vertical out i.c.
Then you`ll need a soldering iron and solder to repair those solder joints. Don`t forget to unplug the set before working on it.
Hope this will help Good luck

Panasonic CT-32G6E Intermittent single horizontal line

I would suggest to locate a part that looks like the one on this link and re solder all the pins, also check for any high power resistor nearby the IC295890 and put some fresh solder.
Let me know if you need further assistance.

Panasonic CT-32D11 TV

Your vertical output IC has stopped working. This is usually caused by the solder joints cracking loose and the IC will either short out inside or just stop working. Sometimes a small capacitor next to the IC, called the pump-up cap, will go bad and cause the IC to fail. In any case, the vertical output IC should be resoldered or replaced and all circuits checked by someone experienced in repairing TV's.
