If you already tried to clean the laser lens and that did not work, it seems like the lens is defective. This product has a 90 day warranty so you'll need a copy of your proof of purchase in order to get a warranty replacement from Memorex.

  • Check the disc you're using for scratches and dirt. If the disc is damaged it won't play properly, regardless of the CD player's ability to function. You can use a CD repair device like the "Disc Doctor" to repair the CD or purchase a new CD.

  • Clean the laser lens with a CD laser lens cleaning disc. CD laser lens cleaning discs can be purchased at most electronics retailers or online. Insert the laser lens cleaning disc and follow the instructions.

  • Insert a correctly-formatted, undamaged disc into your player. Listen to see if it begins to read the disc. If it continues to make no sound and gives you the same message, then the problem is probably that your disc is not spinning in the device.

  • Clean the lens while the DVD player is open. A dirty lens is most likely the cause of your no-disc error. The lens should be cleaned with isopropyl alcohol and a cotton swab.

Tries to read DVD, but after a minute or so, a question mark pops up...what's that?

It is not reading the disc. You can remove the cover and clean laser glasse eye with rubbing alcohol and cotton swab. If cleaning doesn't work, then the laser circuit will need to be replaced.

Either the laser lens eye is dirty and needs to be cleaned with rubbing alcohol and cotton swab, or the laser lens unit is faulty and needs to be replaced.

DVD is not reading any disc, Can't upload software to fix because its continues to try to read a disc that is not there.

This can be either two things:
    1. The glass eye laser lens inside player is dirty and needs to be cleaned with cotton swab and a little rubbing alcohol.
    2. The motor for the laser eye is shot and is not reading and will have to be repaired or replaced.

Will only play in black and white. worked in color last night

You can try cleaning the laser disc head with a cotton swab and some isopropyl alcohol. Apply a small amount of alcohol on the tip of a cotton swab and rub it back and forth gently across the laser head unitl it looks bright and shines. Use the dry side of the swab to remove any excessive moisture from the head. Check the laser transport and make sure its action is smooth and easy. Clean it with a cotton swab and a small amount of alcohol.Use a can of compressed air to blow clear any dust and debris in the laser disc compartment. Now try to play your disc and see if it operates normally. If not you can call Zenith customer service at this telephone number 1-800-243-0000 give them the model number of your dvd player and the problem you are having with loss of color. They will be able to tell you how to get service for the problem. I hope this information helps you with your problem.

    Disc spins, but no image.

The unit is having a problem with the laser transport being out of alignment. You need to clean and clear all the dust and debris in the transport and laser disc compartment. To do this you will need a can of compressed air, isopropyl alcohol, cotton swabs, and a small can of lithium grease. You need to use compressed air to clean away all dust and dirt from the laser transport and laser playing head.Next you will need to use a cotton swab with a small amount of alcohol on the tip and clean the laser head. Rub the swab gently across the head of the laser until it appears bright and shines. Then use the other side of the swab to remove any excess moisture from the laser head. Now you must check the transport rails and gears. Clean them with a cotton swabs and a small amounts of alcohol. Next move the laser transport from the most inner position to the most outer position. The action must be smooth and easy. If the action is not smooth you must apply a small amount of lithum grease a cotton swab and rub the transport rails and gears. Do not use too much grease or you will create more problems. Check the transport action again by moving it in and out to see if the action is working properly. If it seems to working correctly. Test the dvd player with a music cd to see if it plays correctly.let it play all the way through.Next try a dvd and see if plays correctly. If it does then the repair is completed if not you may have other problems with the player. Like a bad or worn laser head. A bad motor than can no longer spin the discs correctly. These problems should be checked out in a service center. You can call for service information at the Zenith customer support telephone number. 1-800-243-0000. They will be able to tell you how to get service for the dvd player. I hope this information helps you with your problem.

I insert disk but it doesn't load. It says no disk.

The disc won't start spinning until the player senses the disc is there. If the lens on the laser inside that reads the disc is very dirty, it can cause this problem. You might try cleaning the lens with a cotton swab moistened with lens cleaner or isopropyl alcohol.
