Go to Dell's support site and download any updated sound drivers. Then uninstall the sound drivers from the device manager, the reboot. It will find the hardware and reinstall the drivers. If this doesn't work, then it's an issue with the speakers. Check the connections to see if they worked loose, if not they may need replacing.

Iis there a volume control on toshiba tecra a2

If it's plugged into a external speaker system, doesn't the external speaker system have volume control? In the Tray Notification Area, right click or click on the Sound Icon, adjust volume OR open the Control Panel and select Sounds Icon. Laptop aren't known for great sound, I use this: http://www.bose.com/controller?url=/shop_online/digital_music_systems/sounddock_systems/sounddock_portable/index.jsp

External subwoofer doesnt play any sound

Hello,

Are you plugging the sub into a 3.5mm jack or USB?
Have you tried to plug the sub into the speaker jack?
The sub works on another computer?

Bad sub or bad jack?

I hope this helps!

Our notebook sound is gone. but when we connect external speaker then sound come so please solve the driver problems as soon as possible.

if you sound comes on when external speakers are plugged in chances are its not a driver issue you internal speakers could be blown if they were blown you would still hear distorted sound coming from them
is you internal speakers on mute? or maybe on really low volume
you can also go into my computer right click on background hardware tab device manager
and if you dont see anything with yellow question marks over it its not a driver issue
im almost certain its a volume issue with your internal speakers

I have windows 7 uploaded on my laptop. i am unable to hear sound. Th espeakers are functioning fine and i can hear the sound with external speakers. pl tell me whats missing ..?

Are you 100% sure the internal speakers are functional? Afterall if you cannot get any sound from them it is hard to tell for sure.
It is possible the speakers have come unplugged from the system board or there is a problem with the driver. Open Device Manager form your Control Panel and check there are no yellow exclamation marks on anything.
Finally check that the internal speakers are not muted by clicking the speaker icon in the bottom right of your screen. Also check this by using the keyboard shortcut for volume.
Hope this helps,

Thinkpad T41 with XP-sp3: No sound / working fine until yesterday

Hi. Try plugging in an external speaker just to test the issue. It could be just the speaker of the laptop is having the problem. If you were able to hear the sound from the external speaker then the problem is the built in speaker of the computer. If there is no sound coming out to external speakers. Try to reinstall the driver of your soundcard.

Dell computer seems to have lost it's external sound

This could happen for several reasons. Of course, the first is that the speakers might have gone bad, but that is not usually the case.
The next reason would be if you have muted the speakers in the "sounds" option in the control panel. Check that. While there, be sure you have the volume up and not way down.

Problem for my recording system

You say you can hear the otherside when online! Is it your microphone which isn't working rather than your speaker?
Go into your control panel- then sounds and audio devices-and click "voice" make sure that the mic is enabled and you can test the hardware here also. you could also use an external headphone and mic combo, your laptop should have ports for you to insert the jack plugs
