Mouse pad stalls and i see a little red light on the mouse pad....i have a compaq laptop but not sure what version...how do i disable thi feature so i dont have to use a physical mouse

The little red light is likely from the red LED underneath your optical mouse. If the mouse cursor/pointer on the screen is jerky, it may mean the mouse pad is dirty and/or if the mouse is wireless, its battery is low and should be replaced. Most laptops have a touchpad as part of the keyboard. If you want to use that instead of a physical mouse, just put the physical mouse away and use the touchpad. Both should be active unless the touchpad was disabled. If the touchpad is disabled, you can re-enable it by clicking on control panel > mouse > device settings tab > enable button.

> 5.. Use arrow keys to select the pointing devices you want enabled
> 6.. F10 to save settings

Or:
> 1.. Start

disable buttons. "

If this helps, please rate. Thank you.

Touch pad unlock

below the touch pad is an on/off button/switch.... try that...

then, if that doesn't work, restart the computer, try again....
or... if all else fails...
Plug in a usb mouse, navigate to

Start >
>Control Panel
>Hardware & Sound Devices
>Mouse/pointer devices... check to see that the touchpad is enabled.

have a look at the F keys - is possible one of those disables the touch pad
you can enable and disable the touchpads Touchpad: - to enable or disable a touch pad/pointing device from the Start Menu > control panel > Change to claasic view - {on left hand menu} click on the mouse icon Mouse Properties dialog box, click "Device Settings tab" select the device click to Enable or Disable OR You may need to enable in the bios/setup menu - as the PC boots - you should get a message on how to get into the bios/setup - usually using F2 or DEL Key or F10 see if touch pad needs to be enabled there OR one of the F keys may disable/enable - depends on the model of the Laptop - toshiba sometime use FN+F9 key

I am using my phone to ask this question.

Hello,

the touch pad is usually controlled by synaptic.

To turn it on back, press start menu from your key board and scroll to control panel.

From control panel, use the tab button to select the icons on control panel and go to mouse.

From mouse, use your keyboard to control to device settings.

From device settings, you would see synaptics touch pad, then press enable and that's all.

You touch pad would then be enabled again.

All the best.

Compaq Presario CQ50 touchpad won't work.

Click on Start menu, click Control Panel, under Hardware and Sounds click Mouse. Once the mouse window is open click the last tab that says Device Settings. Make sure the Synaptics TouchPad V7.0 is Enabled. If it's not, then enable it by clicking at enable. Also double check your speed on the mouse pad to make sure it's not set to slow.
