Do other devices work at those ports? If you are using a hub, try a different port directly on the computer (if you haven't tried them)? (It's not clear from your description of the problem.)

If other devices do not work, check if the USB ports are disabled for security or power-savings. (The first is in the Device Manager (Windows 7 - Start > Control Panel > System and Security > System). The second is in the advanced settings from the Screen Saver (Right click on the desktop and chose Personalize, then Screen Saver then Change Power Settings).)

For a laptop, you might try turning off the computer and removing the battery, power cord and all peripherals for several minutes before reconnecting. Otherwise try to update the USB drivers or uninstall them and let the computer reinstall them.

If only the flash drive doesn't work, check if it will work on another computer. If it doesn't, it probably has failed. The pins on the USB connector can get damaged or the flash memory can fail. Recovering the data from the drive may be possible for a company that specializes in the service (but is not a given). If your flash drive is under warranty, the company will replace it but will not recover your data.

I hope this helps.

Flash drives do not need a drivers (plug and play). There are several possibilities:

I didn't find a port in ma laptop in which i can plug n play b'coz it didn't plug in into usb ports

Hi there,
These are the minimum system requirements of the flash drive you bought.
• Computer with a USB port • Latest version of Windows XP, Windows Vista® , Windows 7 • Mac® OS X 10.4, 10.5, 10.6 • Minimum free disk space: 600MB recommended
Any way back to the question, there is a protective plastic clip for the gold contacts have you tried removing it before using, it might be the reason you cant stick it to any USB port. Any way don't lost the cap so it can lessen dirt on the gold contacts.

Hopefully this information helps.
Thank you for using FixYa.

I cannot get a SanDisk flashdrive to go into either of the USB ports on my new desktop computer. I am using the USB ports located on top of the computer

To test the functionality of the usb ports in front of the computer
1. Insert another flash drive or another usb device like a usb mouse on front the computer 2. If it detect the usb device that means 2 things flash drive might be bad and the front usb port is working 3. If it does not, It means that the flash drive might be bad or the usb port is not connected to the front panel of the computer 4. Try also inserting the flash drive at the back of the computer see if the usb drive is detected in all ports 5. Check the BIOS for any usb port associativity

When i plug my 4g cruzer micro usb memory stick nothing happens the cpmuter dosnt read that it is plugged in

Try a different USB device on each of the USB ports on your computer.
Hopefully, all your USB ports are working correctly.

Try a different USB port on your computer.
Hopefully, the SanDisk will be detected on one of the ports.

Try a USB port on a different computer.
If the SanDisk still is not detected, then spend $10 to buy a new 4GB flash-drive.

How to solve usb not reconized error in sony vgn-s36gp?

Hello

Disconnect the flash drive from your computer, then plug it into a different USB port. On occasion some USB ports do not detect inserted equipment (either because the port is damaged or because the flash drive is not supported by the particular connection).

Connect the flash drive after the computer has powered on. If you plug the drive into the computer before starting the system, the computer may not detect the USB device.

Open an Internet browser and navigate to the drive manufacturer's website. Although most USB flash drives are plug-n-play, the computer may not have the appropriate drivers installed, which means you must install the driver before the system can use the flash drive.

Select the "Support" option, then choose "Drivers and Downloads". Click on the model of flash drive you are using, then the operating system. Click on the driver download link and wait for the driver to download to the computer. Double-click the downloaded file to load the installation wizard. Accept the license agreement, then follow the prompts to install the driver. Restart the computer and the system is ready to use the USB flash drive.

USB not working

if the usb detects other devices and not your drive, the drive itself may be faulty. If you plug in other devices in the usb and it detects them the usb drive or its connector is most likely bad.If it won't detect any devices the port is bad and drivers won't help.Possibly a motherboard issue.

Re: flash drive

First thing to do is to connect the flash drive to your computer via USb port, then if the flash drive is already detected and computer is done installing the driver for it, Just double click Mycomputer icon then you should see there the flash drive, double click on the flash drive then after that you can just copy the pics from your computer and paste it to the flash drive...

Note if the falsh drive is not detected by the computer try to connect it on a different USb port and hopefully it will be detected that time...

Hope that helps..........

Imation Swivel Flash Drive Cant detect

is it several times that youve used your flash driver at your office? and which side of the usb port did you plug it? coz when it is your first time to use your flash drive at your office and your plugging it at the front side of the PC. well there might be something wrong with connection and may cause damage to the board of the flash drive. if it your using it several times, well try to check at your PC, then do the following specs:

my computer (right click and select manage)
and under manage window ( select disk management )
try to see if your flash drive registered (you can see the drives of your PC) and see if theres a volume (either raw/ or theres a partition on it).

if not, well the board of your flash drive might be damaged, mostly these were caused by the power of the system, fluctuation is one of them, then improper plugging of the flashdrive.
