SOURCE: Kodak P712-With a freshly charged battery in the camera, the camera keeps turning itself on and off continously. Is this a camera or battery problem?

Hi
This is a camera problem from the operation unit. If the camera is not fallen on the floor or something else the flexfoil has conducting wrong and a reset with on and off switching occurs.

SOURCE: Flash doesn't work

Check your flash setting (the button with a jagged lightning bolt) to make sure that you have the camera set for auto flash. Push the flash setting button until you see a bold A next to the lightning bolt. Sometimes the user inadvertently covers or even just touches the flash unit while powering on the camera, preventing the unit from popping up. Many Kodak cameras have a manual button (marked with the lightning bolt and the word OPEN) to pop the unit up so that it will work for you. Hope this helps.

Why does the kodak p712 camera shuts on and off will not let lens stay out?

Your P712 has the P-series powerswitch problem. Can be solved. Look here: http://www.dpreview.com/search/forums?query=p712+power+switch&forum=1011
Use WD40 or Deoxid to solve it, mostly for the longer duration. If necessary use again.

Is the SMDV 10 SM 512 hot shoe safe sync the same connection for all digital SLR cameras?

Most brands of camera's do have own hot shoes for the flash light. That is because they al have a different protocol for starting and stopping a flash, when the camera should measure the amount of light coming back. (TTL or through the lens)
And perhaps, to keep costumers to their own brand?
I found my Nikon commander is capable to trigger my canon flash too, but only to start it not to stop. so the flashes accept commands from more than one brand.

The pop up flash only pops up part of the way so the pictures are dark. Can this be fixed and how much will it cost. Where can I bring the camera to fix the problem

I had the same problem with my flash not poping all the way up.
I decided there must be a spring that is not pushing the flash up.
Looking for small springs I took apart push button ink pens. The spring that fit the best was from a “Pilot G-2”. It is slightly shorter than most. With a dib of glue on each end I inserted the spring while holding the flash open. Try to use a glue that bonds to metal and plastic. I put the spring in the center of the flash. Repair cost was about $2.50 for the pen, I had some glue.

Flash won't go off

KODAK suggests a repair for this fault.

However due to spare part shortage this model is no longer repaired. Instead KODAK offers a trade up option where you will have the opportunity to trade up to a newer model 25-30% cheaper than the market price.

Easyshare P712 LCD screen will not come on no matter what I do!

There is a switch on the camera itself that can switch the LCD on and off.
If this doesn't work, unfortunantly KODAK no longer repairs this model any longer. Therefor the only alternative is a Trade up.
