Icemaker is constantly plugging up. Ice cubes seem to get jammed in the mechanism. What can be done to prevent this. We try to check it but forget sometimes and then you have no ice. This has been an ongoing problem with this refrigerator..

This isnt uncomon whith sertan water conditions . try installing a water fiter ahead of the fridge ' also you can get a food grade silicone and after using your hair drier spray the ice maker ice serface and alow the product time to dry before restarting machine . food grade arisol is flamable so do not dry it with hare drier , it drys fast enough . you can get it a apliance or refrigeration parts wholesaler.

Not a whole lot you can do but to keep the frost down.
If you are able to move the items in the freezer to another freezer and let it sit overnight, all your problems will melt away....
Until a couple months later when it builds up

Make sure to double check your freezer is sealing correctly, bad gasket causes moisture to be sucked in.

Here are some basic ways to slow the buildup

The ice and water-dispensing system of your refrigerator is quite complex.
Many components work together to provide the ice and water. Aside from a simple problem of a leaky water tube or a jammed ice chute, most other components are not user serviceable.
I would suggest that you contact a qualified appliance repair technician for such repairs.

Ice maker all of a sudden stopped working.

Remove the ice bucket and look for ice hung in the fingers. Use a hair dryer to melt a jammed ice cube. Keep at it till the fingers move free and advance to the next harvest cycle. If the ice mold is empty replace the water valve. If the ice mold is full replace the ice maker.

HI, we have the same problem with ours from time to time. It is a engineering flaw, bad design, the ice cubes are kept in the refrigerator section, which is about 38-40 degrees. So the ice cubes melt, the only way to keep it clear is to use ice cubes every day and not let then thaw and freeze.

Our ice maker suddenly stopped working....help!

Well I would check for a hung up or jammed ice cube. I would use a hairdryer to get the ice maker going. If that was ok I would look in the ice maker for ice that ain't been harvested. That would tell me something is wrong with the ice maker. If the ice maker was empty and no ice was present in it , I would say the water valve was whack.
Here is a few notes and a standard im manual

Ice maker stopped making ice. I had to melt ice

Jim, you will need to replace the heating element and most likely once this has been replaced, your ice maker should work properly unless the ice broke another part on your ice maker.

I would start with the heating element first.

Just contact us at:

http://www.fixya.com/repair/d499389-accurate_appliance_repair_service with your model number and we will get the correct part out to you asap!
We look forward to getting your ice maker working properly again soon!

Thanks, Ella

First, are you sure that's the problem? To clean the line, if that's it...simply shut it off, disconnect it from the fridge and run the water. How is the filter? Is there a defective switch involved? Do you hear a click? Is there door water? Is the float on the unit working?
