Hi Jaun,

    • Download and install CCleaner (free) from Piriform

    • Run the cleaner to remove old un-needed temp files

    • Select the StartUp tab and look for any programs that you know you installed but no longer use or need, and disable them. Caution, do not disable any system files unless you absolutely know what they do and that you do not need them.

    • Run the Registry cleaner, when asked if you want to backup the registry, select YES, and save to a file you will remember just in case. I have used this program hundreds of time on many different system and it has never caused a problem, but you want to be safe, backup the Registry.

    • If asked about a particular file that it wants to clean, select "yes to all"

    • Reboot

Windows should reinstall the drive when the computer boots back up.

If this does not resolve your problem, try the following.

If you take all these step and you still can not burn a DVD, chances are your DVD burner componet needs to be replaced. Good Luck.

  • If this helps resolve your issue, would you please rate the solution

I have burnt a bunch of CD's for my Sony CD player. It holds approximately 400 CD's. It seems that last few songs on the burnt CD's are played with a lot of distortion. They have become progressiveley and...

I've had the same thing happen to me.

Minute variations from one machine (or disc) to the next would explain the different results. As the CD standard allows for error detection, correction and concealment as required, one machine may be exhausting its capabilites while the next is either correcting or concealing the problem inaudibly.

Try this: If your source material is not available for a new burn, COPY one 'bad' CD to a fresh disc CD-R (data disc) on your PC. The data copy process is not in real-time like music burning or listening is, so the PC may be able to retry and correct data errors in the source and write perfect data on the copy. If the PC can't read the data it will fail right away, but it will retry it a few times before giving up..

However, if the brand of media you're using is the problem you might just be making another copy that will degrade with time. No maker is immune to bad media. Sometimes one batch will have a problem while others won't.

I'm trying to burn some songs in Windows Media Player, it's around 300 MBs of songs going to a 700 MB CD-R. Windows says I can only burn around 15-17 of the songs on one disc.I have no idea why it does...

Hey!

Windows Media Player would only allow you 15-17 songs because the type of disc that it will create would be a music CD.

If you want to put in a lot of songs on a CD, it should be a data CD not a music CD.

I suggest you use a burning software that will allow you to make a data CD.

Here's a link that will show you free burning softwares. Click here to get there.

Hope this helps! :D

Need to ask you how many different player programs you have on your hard drive and which one is set as your default play. I can resolve the problems by offering a player encoder. But you may need to email me for the program. Thank You, and let me know, Sea Breeze

I have the uv8 phase linear and burnt cds wont play only store b

I had the same problem - its because when you burn the disc, you don't use up all the recording time; and the read light on the player is so sensative that if there is any unused time, it will not accept the disc. So, make sure your recording time exceeds the disc space, and make sure the last song you burn is not your favorite because it will cut off midway through the song.

CD player won't play MP3 CD's?

I have had similar problems in the past - on one computer discs burned using nero were unreliable but using Windows Media Player they were fine and on other computers the Windows programme was useless and produced unreliable inconsistent results.

I suggest you experiment with different burning software and maybe suspect the drive you are using might be past it's best.
I have several cd players in my vehicles and around my home. Only a couple of them will play all the discs and most of them are very choosy and will only read premium price shop bought discs and it is a waste of time trying to play a discount store or freebie disc, or many of my computer burned discs.

I don't know what the differences are - maybe it is the software or the power of the laser burning the disc or the sensitivity of the reading laser, but there are many differences in there somewhere. The situation is very frustrating...

Burnt songs and they wont play in my car???

im assuming you have a dvd player in your car as opposed to a regular cd player

you need to look in the manual of your car stereo and see what kind of discs it can read... there are dvd+r, dvd-r, dvd-wr, dvd-ram, dvd-r (dual layer), etc, etc....

make sure your using the correct format disc and also make sure when you burn the music that your burning them in a file format compatible with your stereo (wmv, mp3, etc) check the manual

Putting songs on a disc

You have to download music from a music site and them "burn" these songs to a CD using Nero or some other similar program.
It is quite easy once you have the music on your PC.
Some sites are free others are pay to download.

CD-ROM

CD ROM = Read Only Memory - play discs
CD R = Recordable - write songs / data discs
CD RW = Re Writable. - use more than once to write songs / data

What does it say on the front of your drive?
If it says RW or R you need to use a program such as Nero to be able to write discs.
Hope this Helps
